As a child I always sat in the Blackburn End at Ewood Park waiting for the players to come out to begin the match.

And one player which stood out more than anyone was Colin Hendry, the tall powerhouse of a defender.  The crowd would applaud the long-standing Blackburn ace and as a ritual before every home game Colin would pull his shorts down quickly and flash his bum at the cheering crowd, a chant was even created for the great man!

"Colin show us your ar*e, Colin Colin show us your ar*e.' It was all in good taste and the defender always kept his Y-fronts on, unlike Joey Barton.

'He was proud to be a Rover and a proud ambassador for his country'

Hendry played over 300 games for Blackburn during his two spells at the club, interrupted by a brief transfer to Manchester City.  He scored numerous important goals for his beloved team but his main strength was ofcourse his excellent defending against some of the Premier League greats of the time.

The likeable defender from Keith in Scotland was a vital player in the success of Rovers in the early years of the Premiership and was pivotal in 1994-5 season when Blackburn, against all odds, won the league title under the management of Kenny Dalglish.

He was proud to be a Rover and a proud ambassador for his country, earning 51 caps and the captain's armband on more than one occasion.
