Did Freddie Sears save West Ham boss from the axe?
A good result against Blackburn seems to have got the beleaguered Hammers boss off the hook - for the time being at least. It also saw the arrival of a future star in teenage debutant Fredie Sears.

West Ham yesterday silenced the critics (including myself) by registering a good 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers, with 18-yer-old supersub Freddie Sears scoring late on in a memorable debut.
The knives had been out for manager Alan Curbishley after his Hammers side lost three games on the spin, all by four goals, and all to a low-standard of performance. Such was the clamour in certain quarters for Curbishley’s head that the West Ham board had to come out and publicly back their manager.
Although many people wanted him out, former Upton Park hero Julian Dicks gave his backing to Curbishley last week, claiming not only that Curbs was the right man for the gaffer's role at West Ham, but that it was the players who were to blame. Dicks claimed that the lacklustre level of performance amongst the players was disgraceful, saying:
"These are all professional footballers, they are earning fortunes, but a lot of them are just going through the motions. At the end of the day the manager gets the blame which I think that is wrong. It's down to the players, they're the ones out on the pitch.”

What is it with you guys, the main bulk of real west ham fans are behind Curbs and think 10th with the injuries we have had is a top class position. This sack the manager after a run of defeats is pathetic. Why does he need to answer to a host of media morons and a percentage of west ham fans who have short memories,UP THE HAMMERS
