Was Kevin Keegan the wrong choice for Newcastle United?
The boss loks out of Toon with the pace and stress of the Premier League, and let's face it, that's why he left football. So why did the Newcastle board rush to get him back?

Kevin Keegan's appointment as manager of Newcastle United was perhaps the biggest surprise so far this season.
Appointing a manager who had left football because of the stress and demands was surely a mistake.
How could the Newcastle board have appointed Keegan when football in the Premier League has become more stressful than ever?
Watching Newcastle play today is an even worse experience than when Sam Allardyce took over. They are a demorolised team and playing the worst football possible.
To be fair to Keegan it's not entirely his fault as it's the players who perform on the field and not the manager, and they all had a say in Allardyce's departure. Mind you, I am not a fan of Big Sam, he is not good enough to manage a big team and his ideas proved to be a flop, even with the players he brought in. And now it's all on Keegan's shoulders to try and salvage something.
I expect much more from Michael Owen and Co. They are being paid good wages and their performances are shamefull to watch. Credit is to be given to the Geordie fans who flock to St James' Park hoping to watch the revival of their beloved team and they surely deserve better for their loyalty.

this article is poor in so many ways, this is the vomit you spew - Watching NUFC now is worse then under Big Sam - What are you talking about?! We played well yesterday against a Birmingham side at home, and high in confidence after achieving some great results against Arsenal and Tottenham to name a few. - Alan Smith most committed - why? because he chases the ball and gets 1 yellow card per game? - Big Sam cannot manage a big club - Whats is this based on? half a season at a club? - Newcastle would have done better if they looked for a foreign coach - again, what is this based on? speculation? You voice your opinion then try and pawn them off as facts. Miserable attempt mate.

How can you judge someone on the back of 8 or 10 matches? he did not buy any player; and for sure most of these players that Big Sam bought are average apart from Beye. If you ask me Newcastle defence was better in previous years i.e faye is no better than Titus. To argue that the team played better under Big Sam than now show to me that you have no knowledge of football or you must have be from the NOW i.e. one of those people who want to see Newcatsle and keegan fail. Changes of manager don't pay. He KK has done it 12 years ago and he will do it again. sorry mate you guys are running scare because NUFC will be great again. JM

Unfortunately, for all his commitment, Alan Smith is not good enough to play for the Toon, and he will not save us from relegation. Obafemi Martins' goals kept us clear of relegation last season and he will do it again, he just needs Kevin to pick him. Also Kevin was right not to waste money on second-rate players in January, there are enough of those at the club already, thanks to Fat Sam and Graeme Sourness.
how many years of sub parr, mid to low table finishes will it take before people stop calling newcastle a big club?

Question: Was Kevin Keegan the wrong choice for Newcastle United? Answer: No. Why? He showed courage by not delving into January window market and buying players just for the sake of it. Watch him go next season now that he knows who he's got, who he needs, and has 50 million to get them,
Pity you dont write about something you understand - If there is anything. Did you notice Arsenal have failed to win a few games lately? Do you think they should sack Wenger cos he has lost the plot? W""ker

I think Keegan is brilliant man, I just love the way we havent won a game yet and all those stupid southern softies said he would be sh*te man, how wrong were they! king kev rules! now all we need is to bring Jimmy Nail in as his assistant and Gazza as director of football. Oh yeah man dont forget Gazza's fat five bellies mate, he can run the youth team!

Keegan must stay at least 3 seasons to develop and bring on a new Newcastle.Another emotional board responce in sacking him will lead to more ridicule of NFC.

poor article - must be from NOW(again) - nufc will be great again - showed courage not to buy - watch him go. This shows you are all the pathetic, mindless, blinkered toon goons we all know you are. Quote "If there is anyone can instill confidence in a team, it KK" 6wks later, "What this team needs is confidence, and i cant see where its going to come from", even BIG AL knows how it is from his tv armchair. The great Howard wilkinson even said "95% of sacking doesnt change anything". The Messiah is back, only thing stopping him rapping again is that he knows the whole world is expecting it.

To be honest, the malaise at NUFC set in when Sir Bobby Robson left. Since then the managerial merry-go-round hasn't helped anybody. Maybe Sam was not the right person to have been offered the job in the 1st place, but he should have been given more time. Either way, in spite of the fact that Keegan did not buy in the Jan window, he should be given time to turn things around at the Toon. Even if it means the Championship, which I don't think will be the case.
