Why Curbishley could be in dreamland with West Ham next season
With plenty of money at his disposal, a quality youth set-up and a formidable array of talent still to come back from injury, the sky's the limit for the Hammers.

West Ham can soar next season if they are given respite from their plague of injuries. Push aside the press hordes and their anti-Alan Curbishley agenda and you have a side that has a better team on the treatment table than on the pitch.
The squad is brimming with young Academy talent (has it ever been any other way at West Ham?) and, crucially, one that has improved from last season. A manager’s remit should always be to try to beat the achievements of the season before - and Curbishley will do that.
Next season the vital thing for the Hammers if they want to move up the league is health. If they can have a fully-fit squad and if their youngsters can improve then they can definitely challenge in the mini-league just below the Big Four. Just look at some of the talent they have available:
Freddie Ljungberg - Still only 30 years old and a physically explosive force. He has a lot left in the tank and if he can come anywhere near replicating his form at Arsenal he will be a very important player.

I agree. Now's the time for patient support. We can't expect overnight success and given the injury list, Curbs has done amazinly well. We should be proud of our history, which includes loyalty to our managers - do we really want to be another Newcastle? The better clubs don't make panicky decisions when things get tough and neither should we. Curbs should be allowed to work with the players he's bought in when they're fully fit next season and our positive support can only help us go forward. Our players need to feel relaxed enough to keep improving, not chided for every missed chance. Keep the faith and COYI !!!

We could have a great team next season, one that can challenge the so called big 4.Hopefully we can do what Everton have done this season.Curbs will have a headache trying to keep everyone happy, but what a great position to be in.

we have got to sort out the defence first

Next season is the big season for WHU. 2007-08 was about consolidating and if we end up no worse than 10th we would have done well. Losing 12-0 in a week hasn't helped the negative press and all we can do is hope that Curbishley carries on the good work. I am still not convinced that he is the manager to take us forward but he deserves a couple more seasons to prove the fans right or wrong. We do have the makings of a good squad but we still need to strengthen in certain areas if the right players become available. We also need a clear out of players that we don't need - Mullins, Boa Morte, Bowyer, Zamora and/or Cole. Don't get me wrong, these players have given good service but to be successful, you have to move players on to make way for others coming in. Roll on 2008-09

I pretty much agree with Trevor H but getting rid of Mullins would be suicidal!! Bao yes, CC yes, Bobby Z for the right money-£5m!! But keep Mullins, he's worth his weight in GOLD!!

I think that on reflection, Pat Brosban is right about Mullins. He is dependable and may well end up a squad player but he hasn't really let us down over the years. It was watching Chelsea - they have got Ballack, we have got Mullins!

yes we will improve .but I still think that we need new faces (left fullback) especially when we sell boa morte, cole, bowyer.
