Why Wenger should have done more to stop Arsenal's freefall
There's no denying what he has done for the club, but some recent decisions by the Gunners boss have left much to be desired.

I am a big admirer of Arsene Wenger and very few are the things that I find to critise about him, but watching Arsenal's recent freefall, I think that "Le Boss" has made some critical mistakes.
A few months ago we were all applauding Mr Wenger for the team he has set up as their performances were excellent. A team with an average age of just 22, a team set up nicely to challenge for honours. However, the injury to Eduardo seems to have ruined all the plans the Frenchman might have had. In such a short space of time Arsenal have lost all the consistency they had and are now lacking firepower.
I just do not understand why, for example, Emmanuel Adebayor is never taken off the field when, for 90 minutes against Chelsea at the weekend, he was never in the game. Yet we stick with him as if he's the only goalscorer available.
Yes, I realise that he is the top scorer for this Arsenal team, but his performances lately have left much to be desired. His last goal - against AC Milan in the Champions League - was an open net, which is hard to miss!

The ones that will probably leave at the end of this season are : Hleb, Djourou, Eboue, Gilberto and Lehmann - with a question mark also over Flamini. AW has been consistent however in saying that he will spend the millions made available to hold what he has - which to me suggests that he will be prepared to break the bank to hang onto most, if not all of the youngsters currently coming through. We will probably need to sign replacements for each of the above, but I don't believe he will. I would expect that he will make 2-3 new signings, and will bring on a couple more of the emerging academy players - Vela, Merida, Gilbert and Traore... with Denilson being given more of a role in the first team..........

Wenger has only one Quality: Knows how to train. Other Aspects of the match on the pitch is Worse than ADEBAYOR. Poor Tactically, Buying Players, Game Planning, Rotations. Planning For the Future does not marely depend on Young players. What has happened was told to him before the season; but his ears are deaf. He has to lift the players, they have proved they are good, but they need some QUALITY if not Star Players to finish all the work they do. Why on Earth doesnt he drop ADEBAYOR? EBOUE? DIABEY? LEHMAN? ROSICKY shall never player 5 consecutive game, Van Purse is class but prone to injuries, Gallas can talk but is also fading, poor speed, poor decisions. Players like SF, MF, KT, GC, Sangna, are fed up withlack of Support and that is why VIEIRA left, that is why TH14 was unhappy some time, that is why Freid Lungberg said AFC has no desire to succeed. Success is worked for: by buying quality not hopeful players. 12 years have gone, AW has never presented a star to AFC Supporters, it is funny. Now he is blaming the players he has failed to motivate like the way MAN U did by bringing in Hargreaves, Nani, Teves, Anderson, Carick. Who did he buy? Poor passer, controler, finisher, skilless Adebayor, 16? 17, 15 years olds, funny. Why demand harvests from a field you did not provide with fertilizers after years exploiting it still poorly???? The problem is that AW has no good advisers, if present, he does not listen year after year. AFC is no longer a team to raise players, that is the work of AJAX, BEVEREN, Championiship teams. History shall not count free flowing productless foot ball, but Trophies won. He has to buy players between 20 - 26 years, he has a lot of kids, he has to learn that Between February - May teams with Good bench decide titles. He should stop blaming the players he does not help. He is on self destruction slowly, and key players may seek success, cash respect elsewhere.

John Kalach's article on AW is absolute and incorrect rubbish. If you watch the aresnal you would know that Wenger has dropped Lehman. AW is the best thing that has happened to AFC and the team is built around him. It wasn't long ago that we were praising him and adebayor...have faith!!! AFC has far exceeded expectations this season. You fickle supporters should go and support our West London money grabbers at Chelsea!!!!

Arsene doesn't need to make big name signings. Henry and Vieira were misfits when they arrived and he transformed them into two of the world's best. Pires, Toure, Ljunberg, Clichy, Almunia, Fabregas and Adebayor were all relative unknowns when they arrived and have become great players under Wenger. Its all very well shelling out 30 million for Shevchenko but can you not see the advantages of buying players for pennies; even if they don' t make the cut the club hasn't bankrupted itself paying for the transfer not to mention the wages of a big headed 'superstar'. This system is flawed undoubtedly as some of the players in the current Arsenal squad aren't up to scratch, but I think you are harsh on Rosicky and Diaby in particular. You say Wenger is poor at buying players- this is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Wenger has produced fantastic players.

AW is gambling with his young players and now the result is that MU is playing better football than Arsenal

the people above have to be the worst n dumbest arsenal fans on the net, especially John Kalach and sheila ramos-surtees. Have you forgotten this Arsenal team was tipped to be 5th this year, and have you forgotten the saying "boring boring Arsenal," that saying hasn't existed since Wenger has been around, Adebayor is still the 3rd highest scorer in the league, and the rest of the players have the talent but Wenger needs to have a stern talk with some of them, especially Eboue. Most of the best players in the current squad were no-names when they arrived, this is how the man works, let him continue.

AW is a very nice coach but his policy of having rubbish faith on younsters is authomatically stupid.he should have bought some wounderful players in january transfer to strenghtend our squad.we need a world class striker like aguero, fabiano and stop using ebuo as a right winger.he need to buy a strong defender and a world class goal keeper like buffon.is time for arsenal to buy not to train

like cesc? or flamini? or clichy? or van persie? or adebayor? or toure? all no-name youngsters when they arrived. Bloody idiot.
by Tony on March 26, 2008
Let's look at ManU. They know how to buy world class players and how to win titles.
