Is there a Celtic-Rangers game coming up, by any chance?
The first game in charge for new Scotland boss George Burley and you'd think everyone would like to be a part of the new set-up to try and impress him. Everyone except the the lone Rangers, that is.

The national side ran out at Hampden full of pride and bursting with passion in an attempt to keep the feelgood factor that has engulfed Scottish football at international level through some amazingly over-achieving performances against the mightiest teams on the planet over the last 18 months.
Unfortunately George Burley did not have the majority of the Rangers contingent who have been dropping like flies from the offset of this international midweek. Why is that, the story goes about injuries. OK, that's fine. If Barry Ferguson, Lee McCulloch and Alan McGregor are truly injured. it would be unlikely for them to make the Old Firm game on Saturday, wouldn't it?
David Weir has already been withdrawn because of the number of games on his schedule. That's very kind of Burley, I wonder if Walter Smith will allow him Saturday afternoon off to rest his weary bones? Two years ago a certain journalist in Scotland demanded that Shaun Maloney and Stephen Pearson should not be allowed to pull on a Scotland jersey after pulling out of a national squad in favour of participating in pre-season friendlies with Celtic.
There was outrage, back-page headlines and huffing and puffing by the Scottish media at the sheer cheek of these two players to do such a thing.
Has the impartial and completely fair Scottish media rounded on Rangers for pulling players out of an international? No, no, no. The back pages are full of stories about Artur Boruc moving to Bayern Munich. That makes sense. The day our national team is embarking on a new era under new management and the tabloids are concentrating on a story that first appeared months ago.
It's farcical. Now I will eat my words if those four players are not on the teamsheet come Saturday. Ferguson is the captain of club and country and has been taking painkilling injections to continue in this posssibly monumental season for his club. Why can't he do it for his country? The silence from the SFA is deafening. I'm putting myself up for a real onslaught of abuse here, but I don't care.
Rangers want an extension to the season because they have too many games to play. Tough. Celtic asked Rangers to postpone an Old Firm game by one day during their UEFA Cup run and it was turned down. So Celtic played Boavista on Thursday evening and then Rangers at Ibrox on the Saturday.
What makes Rangers an exception to the rule? Nothing. They asked for a postponement of a league game earlier in the season to help in preparation for a European tie. They got it. It's partly of their own making.
Now Rangers are saying it's unfair that they might have to play four games in eight days. They shouldn't have to they cry as the UEFA Cup is important for Scotland's co-efficient in Europe. Utter tosh, they will try anything. Why should all of the other clubs in Scotland change their plans to suit Rangers?
You'd think they would relish the possibility of winning four trophies in one season. It has got to be by their rules, though. It's an absolute disgrace yet not a single word has been said against this blatant skullduggery.
Will that journalist call for the four Rangers players never to pull on a Scotland shirt again? I very much doubt it.

I have to say it seems odd, I'll watch the game on saturday - if I see 3 of those 4 players on the pitch - then its a fix. I didn't know an extension was requested. That wouldn't be allowed would it? Isn't that what a squad is for? I must remember to ask for an extension of time in my next exam....see if I'll get it.

The fixture fiasco is caused by Celtic and the SFA. SFA have cup replays SFA wanted St Mirren postponed Celtic were using POD to get out of 3 suspensions. Why should Rangers pay for that ? When do you want the games played, what dates do you have ? There are no dates even if we do play Thursday Saturday, that's not the issue, there's not enough time even playing Thursday / Saturday. The 4 Rangers players are injured, I've been watching them for the last month hobble about. Should Scott McDonald never play for Oz again? Should Naka never darken japan's door again ? Should Aids never head to his "homeland" again? Should Robson never play for Scotland ? Pot and Kettle you no mark. Up yours and your silly paranoid dregs that wave tenners at Gretna whilst wearing a 12 year old hand me down Celtic shirt. Fail Fail. head shoulders knees and toes :-)

It's nice to see some of the Celtic supporters are covering all the bases. What ever the result on Saturday they will be able to run for the moral high ground and continue to bleat about Rangers. It'll be either - Rangers win.... Conspiracy with SFA to give the "Huns" an unfair advantage. Celtic win...... the plucky Bhoys overcoming the evil axis who plot to sink them. The fact is that the withdrawn players are carrying minor injuries and why should Rangers risk losing a vital player in an insignificant friendly when one of the most important games of the season follows it a few days later? I do believe that the season should not be extended and that Rangers have a big enough squad to cope with what comes. But win lose or draw or Saturday I will accept the result and not bump my gums. As all you Tic fans know deep inside, the Gers are obviously going to win and show up your team to be the bunch of untalented misfits they are! Keep smiling.

Well said nelster, where were the claims of bias and conspiracies when celtic were wining the league by a mile for the past 2 seasons? for the great unwashed though when celtic win it's because they play well, when they loose is's due to the masonic refs, SFA and media its pathetic and i'm sure that the 5 or 6 fair minded celic fans out there must be ashamed of the rest of the poor little bleating put upon 'greatest fans in the world' if you really want proof what they are really like check out this site: http://ifyouknowtheirhistory.blogspot.com/

A derogatory Rangers article from a Gerald McLaughlin, shore tares a surdprise. Revisionist history Gerry, the SPL, not Rangers refused to move the game in 2003. If you remember it stirred up the old anti-sellick SPL/SFA bias pot. Also remember, Rangers have too many games to play because they agreed to postpone a game for you lot in January, as well as a game for the SFA earlier. Those are the games that need to be made up, causing the fixture backlog. We won't apologize for you only having 9 games left in your season and us having up to 18 in all competitions. Finally, it's strange how the issue has become Rangers players and a Celtic player sitting out a Scotland friendly with injuries. It was only a few weeks ago that everybody seemed to be in agreement that the real issue was that this week was a stupid time for a Scotland friendly. Funny how times change.

I don't think Rangers have asked for this at all. Everything I've read says that they wouldn't be against it, naturally, but the big headlines came from Gordon Strachan shouting that it wasn't fair and shouldn't be allowed. Also, Rangers as far as I know have never said 4 games in 8 days is unfair. McCoist even said the opposite. Finally George Burley is on record as saying all the injuries are genuine, and that the players all reported for duty and were sent home by the Scotland duty. Still, any excuse to have a pop, eh?

To go from "Blue Chip" to "Oven Chip" in 6 short months, fail fail.
Gerald, did you see Steven Davis put in a master class display last night for Ulster ? He's firing on all cylinders, whilst Barry and co hobble on, he's going to demolish you lot on Saturday. You are my Davis.........

I do wish they would read the article before spouting whatever they feel like.
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Lord_Byron anyway I digress ------- Are you disagreeing that Rangers problems are caused by Celtic, SFA and Cup matters postponing league matches ? Surely not.
Then we wouldn't have to bat you aside --- Nowhere does your article mention the absent Scott McDonald, Barry Robson, Shunsuke Nakamura --- it's purely one sided and somehow tries to suggest that Barry Ferguson should cost himself a League Winners medal by playing a friendly 6 months before Scotland's next competitive fixture. ---- You hate Rangers more than you love Celtic -- Otherwise this article would have read -Why the dynamic duo of Brown and Donati will conquer Rangers-, wouldn't it ? Why don't you phone local radio tonight and give us all a chuckle ?
Barry Ferguson failing to attend a match to recuperate and rest a troublesome injury that threatens his season -------------------- And 2 Celtic players refusing to play for Scotland to play in an alternative friendly match for Celtic ------------- What exactly is your point ? You don't think it correct that a fit and healthy Celtic player gets abuse for refusing to play for Scotland and play for Celtic on tour instead ? But you would mock and insinuate things against a man heading the same way as Alan McLaren ??
How blind can you lot be?If Ferguson and the rest play on Saturday they have cheated their country.Go read something else (like Murray media-daily record) to get your sycophantic feed of the day if you dont like this.

Is it not possible to be injured on Wednesday but fit by Saturday? Has no player ever got over a knock in that time before? Surely if the players were 'at it' as you are insinuating then it is only their own international careers they are threatening. Realistically only Ferguson was likely to play and he also missed the Wednesday game for Rangers the week before (any conspiracy thoughts on that one?) so what is the problem. It is well known he is carrying an injury and is having an operation at the end of the season. The media have been all over this story, where do you live if you've not seen it? As for league extensions what exactly is your problem with that? And if you don't want stories about Boruc why doesn't he come out and say he doesn't want to leave, ever wondered who actually places these the week Poland are playing an international match, agents perhaps, nah that's ridiculous it's the big bad Rangers fans fault isn't it.
Australia or Japan. The article is about Scottish players. The only reason Rangers had no international players calling off is because none of them are good enough to play for their countries.Only Robson from Celtic called off.

What difference does it make what country they play for? Robson, Nakamura & MacDonald were all withdrawn due to injury, and all of them will feature in your squad for Saturday. Wee Chesney has even said that Robson turned up for training this morning injury free. It's a miracle I tells ya!
