Reo-Coker and Wheater can answer Everton's summer shopping needs
David Moyes has a great deal of quality in his Goodison team, but he is lacking a right-back, a centre-half, a central-midfielder - and a genuine leader.

I think this summer is very important for Everton - it will give us some indication as to the board’s ambition in the transfer market and if they are prepared to match those of manager David Moyes.
We are in need of a couple of real quality additions to a squad that already boasts a great deal of quality. We do have cover in many positions but it is mostly down to the versatility of the players there. Some of them can cover more than one or two positions and some are even capable of filling in at several positions.
For example, Phil Neville can play centre-back, right-back and central midfield, as can Phil Jagielka. Joleon Lescott can play central midfield, left-back (he has played for England in both of these positions), midfield and has even been seen as an emergency striker this season.
This has really helped Moyes and is an influence when you’re thinking about which players we may need to buy in the summer. The squad is currently feeling the effects of a long season and some really unlucky injuries. We have lost some important players at bad times, none more so than right now when we had to go into the derby game at Anfield with only one fully-fit striker and several half-fit first-team players. I think the best way to look at the squad is through each position.

I would agree with your view of what we need and I for one cannot really understand why Moyes was not in for Reo-Coker last summer when he moved to Villa..Reo-Coker is everything Moyes looks for, young up and coming future England international and has bags of energy and power something that looks really thin on the ground right now..Cant see Villa selling for any less than 12 million though and I think we should have done it last summer..Who else is available to fit the bill? Certainly not many British players with a reasonable price tag..

Lescott centre mid! From start to finish this article is garbage!!! We need a rb, 2 centre mid's and wing cover and potentially cover up top - the main area though must be carsley replacement e.g. kallstrom.

Kallstrom and how about Jimmy Bullard. We can pick up Ball for a right back from City, bring him home and chuck out Hibbett. Lescott and Jagielka should be centre (for England too!) and let Yobo go to Arsenal. Keep Gardner as cover. We already have Baines and Valante at left back. I'd let Andy Johnson go as well.. too many missed penalties and injuries. Since Tottenham are having a fire sale lets grab Robbie Keane. I think the experience that Kissock is getting at Gretna should allow him to break into the first team squad.. not to mention a couple of other younsters we bought this year to bulk up the squad too

we dont need a centre back as lescott will be there when baines is fully fit after a good pre-season, we need a right back, centre mid and a winger that can get to the by-line and put crosses in.
First and foremost I think you will find playing for Gretna is a bit different than playing in the Premier League here and I dont really see how that will improve him (Kissock)as a player...Secondly I dont ever remember Michael Ball being a right back do you?? From what I remember he was a decent left back with an injury record.. I think our sights have to be a bit higher than going back in time for players but again its what ambitions we have..
FirstlyI dont see how playing for Gretna in that low qualityof a league will improve him (Kissock) as a player.. Its nowhere near the quality required to play regular Premier League football and not just play but make an impact... Secondly I think you will find Michael Ball has never been a right back..He was a decent left back, the most one footed player in the world and had an injury record with it.. Going in for Ball would be a step back and who would he replace?? Baines and Lescott..But we are not going in for him as I assure you he is not a right back..
