How football can benefit from having THREE referees
Hardly a weekend goes by without a column of players hounding a Premier League official over a decision. Instead of looking to punish teams who presist with this kind of behaviour, the game's governing body should find ways to ease the poor refs' burden.

Referees in today’s game get a lot of stick from the players, managers, press and fans. It seems the only people who don’t abuse the officials are the FA and the Premier League.
I must admit I have been guilty of this myself but in all honesty I don’t think refs help themselves. They seem unapproachable to players, who are treated like naughty schoolboys and waved away with impunity, even though some players genuinely only want to question the reason for a decision.
I am convinced it is time now for a sea change in the way referees are asked to run our game. No longer should one man be asked to do the job of two or three; the game is just too fast for anyone to be able to run the length and breadth of the pitch and keep up with every incident that occurs.
There are plenty of sports that run without major incident and when you consider the amount of money at stake and the effect one or two bad decisions can have on a club's future, it is remarkable that clubs don’t make more effort to try to get things changed.
