Pienaar is on borrowed time - Everton must sign him now
On-loan South African Steven Pienaar has been offered to the Toffees for next to nothing but David Moyes is still not certain to take him permanently. Could interest from other clubs or a huge signing-on fee be holding up the deal?

April 30 is deadline day for David Moyes. The Everton boss has until then to decide whether or not to sign up Steven Pienaar.
The midfielder is currently on loan from Borussia Dortmund, but his contract allows Everton to buy the South African for a ridiculously cheap price of £2.2million. This wonderfully low cap on his transfer fee is only active until that date.
Pienaar, affectionately dubbed Peanuts by the Everton faithful, has been wonderful this season. His balsawood frame is capable of agile contortions and razor-sharp flicks, but many Evertonians are wondering why he hasn’t signed yet.
Surely we must at least be able to find £2.2m in our coffers? The question of where the James McFadden money (£5.5m) has wandered off to is an interesting one too. Such transfer dithering always provokes wild rumours, with some claiming that Pienaar has demanded a whopping signing-on fee nearly as big as the transfer fee mooted, as well as a huge wage on top of that.
