Graeme Souness - the biggest mistake Liverpool, Newcastle, Blackburn and Southampton ever made
The key to being a great manager is consistency. Unfortunately for Souey, he's consistently bad. His dire record in the Premier League must surely rank him as the worst we've seen.

Many names are worthy of consideration for the title of the worst Premier League manager of all time.
Chris Hutchins has had two attempts and failed to see November out both times. Sunderland hardly covered themselves in glory during the Mick McCarthy campaigns, and Christian Gross seemed out of his depth and destined for the sack almost from the moment Tottenham appointed him.
No doubt there are other names worthy of adding to this list but in the end, and after much consideration, my vote goes to a man who has managed four different teams in the Premier League and left a trail of destruction in his wake each time. If you really hate your club, then there's only one man for the job - Graeme Souness.
His managerial career started off brightly enough, enjoying enough success at Rangers that, when a permanent replacement for Kenny Dalglish was needed, Liverpool offered him a chance to move to the Premier League.

I absolutely agree. What a great player but what a crap manager. Liverpool are still trying to recover from his destructive influence. How does a club go from being dominate for 20+ years to being fortunate to finish 4th? It all started with Souey. He didn't do too badly at Blackburn, but other than that he's been a disaster.

To be fair to Souness ,he wasn't helped by inheriting an aging team. That said he tried to change things a little too quickly. As for Christian Gross,it's a popular misconception that he had an awful record but a journalist wrote a great piece not long ago saying that that was a bit of a myth.

Terrible manager. Signing Boumsong, probably a worse player than Ali-Dia, for £8M should spell the end of his mangerial career.

Liverpool were on the way down when he took over so it was hadly his fault. At Blackburn he got them promoted and won silverware. At Newcastle he had the team going in the right direction until injuries and the fact Shearer wasnt a team player.

Agree 100% the Guy is atrocious. Along with Allardyce he has to be the biggest Bluffer in Football. Fortunately they`ve both been found out and will never get a job at a big club ever again. Probably end up at the likes of Sunderland, Coventry or Leicester. Poor tacticians, no man management skills what so ever, dier football yet they`ll blame anybody or anything except themselves.

Anthony, Liverpool were top of the League when Souness arrived buddy, you need to check your facts first before spitting that dribble out. Fact after Dalglish resigned we were top by a good few points and Souness undid that, we even had Ronnie Moran for a few games and he kept us there before Souness came and even increased the lead. Souness was a joke, he tried to change it too quickly and ripped up the bootroom and knocked it down. We are still feeling the effects of that today.

Calm down, in fairness Souness won us (Rovers) a trophy and got us back from the Championship, hes just went shit towards the end. He also snapped up our 2 legendary players Tugay and Friedel, and made buys like Pedersen.

Oh yes, and I was also miffed by the fact that when Souey was managing other clubs his transfer policy was to look at any player Liverpool was linked with and try to buy them. No need for scouts - lets you outbid Liverpool. Michael Owen is still pissed off Souey took him to the disaster known as Newcastle.

Newcastle weren't heading in the right direction at all, they were playing bloody awful football under Souness. He signed some of the worst players the premier league has ever seen and as for injuries, it's funny how since he's gone and took his archaic training methods with him, we've not had mass breakouts of pulled/torn muscle injuries. Shearer not a team player, do me a favour. You are a Man U fan and i claim my £5.

Graeme Souness couldn't manage a good Haggis Supper, let alone a football side, absolute rubbish and then some!!.
by Nolan Baker on April 14, 2008
I totally agree. What he was doing in Newcastle is sold Newcastle's good players and bought some s$%^ players. No suprise we struggle then. @ Doug Bug Haha! We beat you in Owen signing, and you blame Souey for it. PATHETIC!
Chris, Rafa did want him back. Just not at the ridiculous price Newcastle paid for him. Nolan, if Souey hadn't been at Newcastle I guarantee you Owen would not be there. You all wouldn't have even thought about signing him. Souness does nothing in the transfer market that doesn't have some Liverpool connection And I don't mean to put Newcastle down. They are a great club with great supporters. By disaster I mean the terrible run of luck they have had in the past few years. YNWA

you tool. Souey was poor and you know it, he bought boumsong and amamamdy Faye. his tactics were terrible and his tash was worse..

Keegan the Messiah had us going in the right direction. I thought Dalglish was bad until Fat Freddie decided Sourness was the answer. Definitely the worst Premiership manager of all time. The only explanation for his signings must be that he found them financially rewarding.

Souness is pathetic!! He should have never been Newcastle manager. He always made bad decisions and wasted bucket loads of money and we ain't seen a penny back! The grumpy guy is hopeless and it really bothers me when he shows up on Sky Sports to give an opinion on how his former clubs are doing.

Souness is the reason Newcastle are suffering today. He tore us to shreds. Roeder did what he could to steady the ship, but was never the man to take us forward. As for all this Owen lark, from what I know, it was a Freddy Shepherd signing, not a Souness one

He is an embarrassment to our game, chuck him out because he will never realize.
Lets not forget Babayaro and Luque, prime examples of Souness's ability to recognise talent in the transfer market, absolute *****!!!.
