A chink of light as Celtic's Strachan-Lennon alliance halts Rangers
The Walter Smith hoodoo was broken on Wednesday as the Hoops found a way through that stubborn blue midfield wall. Can there still be a sting in the tail?

I am of the opinion that 20 minutes before the kick-off in Wednesday's white-knuckle ride of an Old Firm clash, Gordon Strachan may have allowed Neil Lennon to advise a few of the players in green and white just how to handle and impose themselves on a very physical Rangers outfit.
Barry Robson's robust but fair challenge on Christian Dailly in the opening minutes served notice of the mood the Bhoys were in.
It was in the style of Celtic great Lennon. Make sure you post your intent from the very first minute and let your opposition know exactly how it's going to go. Fluster them, even bully them.
I have never once seen Lennon bullied in any football match and that is what Celtic have been missing. Celtic matched Walter Smith's tactics with their natural ability and a solid passing game.

So it was all Lennon's doing, glad wee Gordon's still in the bad books. One swallow only my friend, it's most definately not summer. You played against 10 men for 30 minutes at home and still only just scraped a victory, still a few twists and turns to come before this season ends. Rangers won't play as badly again.

Hmm.The sending off didn,t change much or alter what Rangers had set out to do for the whole game.....defend.Rangers did not have one clear chance.Only Lyon have thumped Rangers this season. They do not conced many, until they have to attack and leave gaps in that midfield defensive wall eg..Dundee Utd 3-3.I think if Celtic defeat Aberdeen this weekend and a little more pressure is added then Smith may adopt a slightly more attacking plan, which will leave gaps for Celtic to exploit a week on Sunday. The loss of Cuellar will also damage the defence with two pedestrian (although excellent) defenders in Weir and Dailly partnering at the back. They will not relish McDonald and McGeady running at them.Very interesting end to the season coming up.

yup celtic back to being the worlds best ...not they struggled to beat rangers with 10 men and a badly injured goalie ,i thought the ref bottled it in the first 50 secs when he turned a blind eye to the elbow fron robson if that was the other way about the ref would have been amason etc ?
badly injured goalie cost you the point you craved.Teams down to ten men invariably revert to a defensive wall and hit on the break. So no change in tactics then for Rangers! You were playing with ten men from the start cause Darcheville might have been better reading a good book.

What the rangers supporters seem to forget is that Nakamura's shot was going IN the net when Cuellar saved it with his hand.....that was when you had 11 men on the pitch.!! So to say that Celtic struggled to a victory against 10 men is completely missing the point. Typical bad losers.

A fair appraisal of the game, Robson's early tacklke was a good one. Celtic really should have won by more goals, but then when you have cheats putting their hands up to save from wonderful shots then sometimes these things happen. Leagues our for the taken now!

I think the connotation in this headline to Nakamura's goal is simply disgraceful. Typical ill-informed Celtic style. He is from Japan.
by gerald mclaughlin on April 18, 2008
ridiculous.Only a complete lunatic would read something into that.Indeed Nakamura is Japanese,so what are you talking about? I didn,t write the headline myself but i did say it in the final paragraph.Really unbelievable.
That's what Celtic fans are good at. Just like it was Rangers fans and not Celtic fans that were throwing bananas at Mark Walters, or Lennon didn't shout DOB at the Rangers support??? CFC = Bigots and Racists. Just admit it.
Enjoy the victory. Cause when Rangers collect the games in hand points, there will be no coming back. No matter how "wonderfully gifted" or "attractive" you believe your team to be. As for the name calling, it only shows you for what your are: juvenile and uneducated, which probably explains why you are sycophantically reporting on Celtic games.

Just 3 points: firstly, I am a Celtic fan, not a Rangers hater (thought it's difficult sometimes when they profess to be better then everyone else as they are 'the people'. God help the rest of us, I wonder if the mayor of Barceolna agrees). Secondly, is there another group of collective minds out there who can twist a balatant handball into some sort of moral victory - "you could only scrape a win against 10 men!" Lastly, lets not take the bait fellow Celts. Whether we win or lose the league, we have our pride in our club for all the right reasons, not because we believe oursleves to be anything more special than anyone else, but because we tolerate and respect everyone else ( bar the obvious). As for the game, my best mate is a Rangers fan and he is embarassed about the pre-historic behaviour of 'the people'. So they are not all bad, they just appear to be. Needless to say our unwashed friends who frequent this site arent so likeable. John Bhoy

...just picked myself up off the floor laughing at the retard above. 'John Bhoy'...carlsberg don't do irony, but if they did...

Yeah it does appear Lennon maybe got Celtic hyped up that bit more for the game, that would explain Robson forearm smash, and Hartley leaving McCulloch playing with a broken foot for most of the game. However that aside it was a wonderful strike by Nakamura, for the first ever OF game he has turned up for. However John Bhoys's comments are superb. Celtic tolerate and respect everyone. You should ask Hugh Dallas how he felt when struck by coins thrown by the great unwashed. You should ask the families of those killed in the Ibrox Disaster how they felt during mins, silence. Also the families of Dunblane massacre, the two girls killed in England, as IRA chants clearly heard during silence for them. Yeah you respect everyone.........

Hey gunga.... Now you have picked yourself up (bet you were well excited on Thursday night), the retard replies. As before, why dont you stick to you own webpages and leave the rest of us to do what we do best, love our club and despise yours......as for being a retard, come back and talk to me when you've got a degree and a post grad.
