“His future will be decided in the next couple of months. We have twice given up talks about Berbatov’s new contract due to the fact that Tottenham are unwilling to fix his transfer price.
"He is 27 years old and he needs to win trophies. It is time he was transferred to a club that regularly plays in the Champions League. There are seven or eight clubs in Europe interested and we know them well." – Emil Danchev.
Dimitar Berbatov’s agent has been shouting his mouth off for some time, but Spurs fans and the wider football world are bracing themselves for a summer where the Bulgarian departs White Hart Lane.
The mercurial Bulgarian striker has lit up Tottenham in his two seasons at the club and, if Spurs can get £35million, Juande Ramos can rebuild the side in his own image.

BY ALL ACCOUNTS KLAAS - JAN HUNTELAAR IS THE THE MAN !!! HIS FEATS ARE TREMENDOUS AT CLUB AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL IF HE IS THIS GOOD WE MUST BREAK ALL RULES TO GET HIM AND MAKE THE TOP 4 CRINGE WITH JEALOUSY DON`T LET THEM ELBOW US OUT OF ANY TRANFER DEALINGS AND DON`T LET THIS BE THE ONLY CLASS ACT TO COME TO WHL .

kenwin jones would be idael replacement for berba
by Ivor Biggen on April 23, 2008
should not be sold to any of the Premiership Clubs and Spurs should refuse to do any business with either Chelsea or Man Utd full stop. It looks like that Spurs even though players agent is upto no good seems loike holding all the aces here as they have Berbatov tied up on a two years contract plus a very european 2 year option like they did with Robbie Keane 2 seasons ago which is an auto renewal basicaly. So spurs can sell him to anyone they like as long as he is sold on Spurs`s terms. As a replacement avoid Huntelaar ,no pace and very weak physically and no vision and ball control, just a decent finisher in Dutch Ere division. Eto`o is a better player than Berbatov i dont care what people say,Villa is a Spanish Defoe. There are not many great strikers out there to start with but Roque Santa Cruz..he will cost a lot less than Huntelaar and a proven player in the Premiership. Go for Santa Cruz..
by LondonGooner on April 23, 2008
football is the only thing that will entice Eto and KJH, look at the other teams they could have their pick of, so it looks like it's Santa Claus for you guys if that list were to happen.............
by Sean Mac on April 23, 2008
Basically, Santa Cruz; keep bent and promote from youth - or if feeling really extravagent, buy Villa - this would give two big and two small strikers, and still probably leave change from berbs money. or: keep berbatov due to contract length and clause. problem being that berbs good sulk and the price could go down. Contract talk is a smoke screen for Dantchev to take whip hand from the club so that he can arrange any transfer he wants,,hence his focus on fixing a transfer price that the club needs to accept when matched. Berbs should say he wants to go (which i for one would actually understand), or knuckle down and sack dantchev as a trouble-maker who isn't representing the best interestsof his client.

You are assuming that these top footballers don't want to play in the top competition and want to take second best european football...

titus bramble could be made to look good on a youtube video though..so NEVER judge a player by a youtube video!

Berbatov to Barca, Eto'o and Ronaldinho going the other way. Lee and £5m for Gomes of PSV. All we need is to raid Sevilla for Capel (never seen him play by the way, but Ramos will know if he's good or not). Another option is all the above and keeping Berba, we will rip everyone apart and win every game 9-8. What else is needed is for me to wake up and be a bit more realistic. So Rob Green it is then for goalie. Berba off to someone, King to play 6 games next season and we finish 10th!

Dimitar Berbatov is a class act and will be very difficult to replace, However bringing in either Samuel Eto`o, David Villa or Huntelaar will bring great class and potential to the club with hopefully a couple of other big names to the club. We will all have to wait and see what will happen to Berbatov in the summer and if he does go leave then ALL the spurs fans should wish him the best for the future.
I for one cannot wait for us to unload the whinging primadonna! Cant see fergie putting up with him, we wont sell to Chelski or Ar5ena1, guess that leaves Liverpool and possibly Man City in the prem, but will probably end up abroad! Dont think hes a striker, but I really like the look of that Zarate currently on loan at Birmingham, forget these megastars coming to the Lane, lets be realistic we currently play in front of 36,000 compared to Barca's 120,000 plus champions league!!!!!

Pekhart - Time to bring him through. He is quality!

Can you imagine these four players phoning up their agent" I don't want to play in the Champions league, I want to play for a team that is eleventh in their country, has won two cups in 10 years, hasn't been the best team in their country for 47 years, Dream on you Spurs!!!!!

valencia have had a terrible season so i think villa would leave.... he would be a great signing and sell bent as well he is terrible... use the money from him to get another forward as well fabiano maybe...
by Dee on April 24, 2008
Dont get me wrong the strikes position is very crucial to the progression of our great club. But what the hell is this great obsession. I'd rather spend 30mill on two top midfielders that would put us on a equal footing wiht the top clubs. First 16mill wasted on bent and now(just romours mind you!) we are looking at Villa,Eto etc. We will only have another Berby on our hands. An unhappy player who knows he his head and shoulders above what we have palying with a Midfield on a different wavelength to his. Please Comolli..get your finger out and sort out our Midfield. COYS!!
What we need to do is to start signing quality first team players that are good enough to play NOW! we spent around £40mill at the start of this season and the only player good enough for first team action is Gareth Bale! How on earth Comolli has kept his job is beyond a miracle! Kaboul, Bent, Boateng, now Gilberto the list goes on! Lets just hope the signings of Woodgate and Hutton are the signs of things to come.

We dont have to sell berbatov, he hasn't actually said he wants to leave, just agent talk! If reports are true and we have a representetive negotiating for Ronaldinho. We should get him at all costs, London will be a big factor for him which is our big chance to lure him, also the fact that he knows Ramos, who bye the way i believe to be potentially if not already one of the top top coaches in the world. Anyway surely a signing of such quality and media attention would show berbatov that we mean business! it could be the key to berb staying and also attracting the likes of Eto'o who is said to also be in talks and with us giving him some speal about him being the face of our marketing for raising the profile of african football! and he is said to be charmed by this! if ronaldinho is available for 12m and Eto'o for 20m plus Modric for 12m get those three in and sell bent for 12m to villa/ pompey/ newcastle. thats a net outlay of 32m on the attack. Then I think Ramos should go for a similiar formation to Barcas with a 3 pronged Strike force and 2 holding players. Leftside prong Ronaldinho and Modric (12m)(rotated) Rightside prong Keane and Lennon (rotated) Centre Forward Berbatov and Eto'o (20m) (rotated) Ronaldinho would be the catlyst for berb staying and Eto'o and Modric signing. also we need to be aggresive with bidding and wages which it looks like we may be willing to do or why negotiate in the first place? Midfield/ holding players to be the engines and cover the defence to assist our deadly strikeforce and swith play. Sign Granero the young super talent from spain and Senna from Villareal who is the player we are crying out for in the middle, a classier version of Zokora that nearly went to Man u. he would cost about 12m i would guess, but he covers alot of ground and would be ideal and isnt as sloppy as some! I would keeop Jenas, Ohara and Boateng ( i believe he has potential and just needs to adjust to the Premier Leagu and get some games under his belt as i believe in Kaboul - give them some time ..remember Drogba was poor after a season it took him a while to get going. as for the defence full backs keep Bale, Gilberto, Hutton and buy the argy Diaz as he can also cover at CB if req. centre halves Jarque/ Ben haim both good options, hopefully King after his long rest will get some consistency. Forren the young Norweigen prospect too to go with Dervitte and Kaboul the other young prospects. then Keepers my number one choice would be Gomes and maybe we can use Lee Young po as part of the deal. Would also get another decent one as back up and loan Alnwick again. Kamenyi (lets hope he's good mates with Eto'o!) Thats a total outlay of around 100m I think we could generate in the region of 50m for Robinson, Cerny, Gardner, Chimbonda, Akkotto, Lee, Zokora, Huddelstone, Tainio, Malbranque and Bent. Net outlay 50m not bad I say! needs a complete overhaul that i believe is exactly what ramos wants to do. COYS!

i don`t want him to go but he is too good 4 spurs due to too much deadwood around him ,most of his goals &genious play he has had to make 4 himself , he sulks alot because he gets frustrated with the lack of class around him ,including the overrated r.keane i hope we improve next season with new blood that oozes class through the whole team & not just 1 individual, starting with a goalkeeper who can keep several clean sheets, BERBATOV , thanx 4 the 2 great seasons u have stood out a million miles above the rest ,good luck at your next club, just please don`t go to arsenal
