Great Scott! Celtic sensation McDonald can become as lethal as Larsson
With 29 goals in the bank in his first season at Parkhead, the signing of the Aussie former Motherwell star has proved to be a superb piece of business by Gordon Strachan.

For a boy who started kicking a professional ball for the likes of Southampton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, MK Dons and Motherwell, the man that is now Scott McDonald has had a remarkable debut season for Celtic.
At the end of season 2004-05, McDonald scored two late goals against Martin O'Neill's Bhoys to hand the title to Ibrox in what was to become known as 'Black Sunday' for every Celtic fan.
We didn't know that McDonald was a boyhood Celtic fan and quite frankly I hated his guts. It wasn't his fault; he was doing his job for his employers at the time. One of the most important aspects of a striker's job at one of the Old Firm is to score against the other.
McDonald, after three previous blanks and a penalty miss, made up for lost time on Sunday. He scored two excellent goals and won the penalty that was to be the decisive goal in a fantastic Old Firm game. It also made sure that the SPL season goes on for another week at least.

Sorry - but shouldn't that be a goal every 1.65 games (as opposed to "1.65 goals every game")? I have been very happy with McDonald this season and was delighted to see him scoring on Sunday - I had a funny feeling he would. I don't think he'll match the outstanding Henrik Larsson but it's probably a bit unfair to compare anyone to the king.

......thanks for the praise. It was John Hartson who implied this and i did say without any humour intended that it was a tall order for the diminutive antipodean. Its true,no-one could replace King Henrik.
