Luka Modric at £15.8m? More 'frailure' looming for Tottenham's optimistic fans
The signing of of the Croatian for next season is just another false dawn, and with Damien Comolli still around there may well be worse to follow...

Tottenham are fast becoming the KLF of English football. Whereas the acid-house musicians inexplicably filmed themselves burning one million quid, Spurs prefer to consistently torch their transfer funds with needless signing after needless signing.
Last year it was Darren Bent, bagged for a preposterous £16.5million. This summer it will be frail balsa-wood Luka Modric - bagged for £15.8m, pretty steep for a youngster who hasn't played outside the Croatian league.
Every year a flood of hope swells through White Hart Lane, but every year the results are as tortuous as a CIA water-boarding session for the Spurs faithful.
You have to credit the plucky Tottenham boys, spluttering and half drowned by their own bloated optimism, they still have the energy to chunter on about how they will restore the glory years next season.

Why don't you concentrate on what your club is doing and leave the worrying to us Spurs fans? I mean, writing a whole article about what we should expect from our own club... is there something about us that you are worried about? If not, then why bother? We'll be, at the very least, top six next season. We worry about our own club. I suggest you should only concern yourself with yours.

Arsenal fan by any chance?
by ALAN GREEN on April 29, 2008
I can`t believe that an Everton fan would think about laying into Spurs ??? - I`d imagine you`ll qualify for the Champions League with the Yak & Johnson up front next season (NOT)

Arsenal fan looking aver his shoulder it seems like..Correct me if i am wrong but Arsenals best player is Fabregas and as far as i am concerned SPURS HAS JUST SIGNED A PLAYER WHO IS CONSIDERED TO BE AS GOOD AS FABREGAS. And Spending wont seem to be ending there either..why all of a sudden all Arsenal fan two bob witers appearing all over this site to slagg off Modric? i think we all have a fair idea dont we? Go and worry about your own club mate..Hemoroids Stadiums empty trophy cabinet and no sponsopship money coming in for the next 12 years either for you, thats what you should be worrying about..Modric is a gem and you will find out next season..

What's it to you? A very thinly veiled dig at Spurs.
up yours

Everton fan I presume. Lol. Worry about your own club 5th place first because with 2 tough matches to go and only slim 3 pts ahead of Villa, I will not surprise that Everton will not get that UEFA place at all!!! LOL

Only this crap site would give the space to an Everton fan with an inflated idea of his own impotence(no it's NOT a spelling error) to pontificate on Spurs from a distance. No doubt he is an expert but what a saddo that he has to try to denigrate a competitor as his own team are so uninteresting. He must be an embarrassment to other Toffee fans but his carer is very proud of him. If he finds his own team so insignificant that he can't manage an article on them I'm sure we can arrange a competition to suggest hjow he might occupy his time. Seems his favourite colour must be green. Weep not that Spurs can afford top quality and his beloved have to shop at Wilkinson. It's a fact of life.

hilarious to see an Evertonian fan pouring so much hatred into this article!I for one quite like what David Moyes is trying to achieve on a next to nothing budget so i think this article proves theres a small amount of envy billowing from the words this sad man has written.I heard that Moyes is looking for 20 mil to spend in the close season while Spurs have spent nearly that on one player??Says it all.Go back to hiding in amongst the shadow of the mighty Liverpool u donut

I haven't been to this site for about 6 months because of the complete and utter crap that is posted about Spurs 99% of the time by complete WANKERS. I see this hasn't changed!!

I can't believe your having a pop at Spurs... mate you're an Everton fan!!! Ramos was Comolli's choice so he isn't going to cause problems for his own man is he?!? If i was you i would be worrying about my own team! All i heard until a few weeks back was how you lot were going to be 4th now my money is on you not even getting into Europe! Intertoto anyone???

"frail balsa-wood Luka Modric - bagged for £15.8m, pretty steep for a youngster who hasn't played outside the Croatian league." And there was I thinking that he was a major part of the Croation national side that qualified for the European Championship finals, knocking England out on the way. What sort of dickhead makes a comment like the quote. Of course the writer has acheived more than Bilic. Bottonley you are vain pillock who is proving to be a waste of electricity cpuld we please have back the oxygen spent on reading.

jealuos scum
we sign a top class big name players an hey try an knock us down....dont asume.......dont assume the gunner will win a trophy next season
by coys Forever on April 29, 2008
Why is an Everton fan concentrating on us? I'll tell something that unless you make some significant signings this summer you are doomed to a future of mediocrity. Cahill and Arteta have carried you as they can. With a reported meagre budget available to Moyes (i also wouldn't give him much) don't expect any fireworks next season. bah humbug sorry i meant Toffee
by Neilm on April 29, 2008
Listen m8 before I even start on you I like Everton and most of your fans. Your a spanner though concentrate on your own club and forget about us. You know dam well that none of us Tottenham fans, even those who wanted BMJ out, agreed with the way he was treated none of us thats a cheap shot, bitch. As for being purists of the game? well considering we were the first team to play push and run football in the English league i.e give and go which destroyed teams with consumate ease as it was revolutionary at the time, well see thats called pedigree and you earn it, and we earned it and no one can ever take it away from us its in our blood. In conclusion your article is nothing more than bitterness, with all due respect to Moyes who I rate highly and like as a person hes not a winner not yet anyway, Ramos is, hes the real deal hes only been here a few months and we alredy have a nice shiny trophy. When he builds his own team in his image with his ethos and sells our rejects lol man watch us go, enjoy your fifth place finish this season imo its gona be a while before you finish in that position again or higher, are you having a bad day by any chance? COYS

Still a useless site with useless writers. That article stunk of bitterness and envy. We are in Europe next season mate. You wont be. We got a trophy this year. You didnt. (and wont for a very long time). We attract big players whereas you have a ground in the scummiest crime ridden parts of the UK. Do one you tool.

What a load of shite!.. Normally Everton fans know there place.. but come on.... Berbatov, Woodgate, Hutton, Bale, Lennon, huddlestone and now Modric.. to name but a few signings over the past few years... Not too shabby i think you'd agree! dick

I'd look up in your "Little world of Everton" book of facts and fiction before you write another dire article matey.

So, Mr Know it all, Modric has yet to play outside the Croatian League has he? Wrong for starters. He was superb in the Bosnian League at the ripe old age of 18, so firstly, I thought I would point out that mistake. As for Modric being waif like...I'am wondering how many times you have actually seen him play? Maybe twice against England(where he was more than physical in his approach when completely outplaying the trio of Lampard, Barry and Gerrard at Wembley. 3 considerably sized footballers)and the odd Youtube highlight reel. This whole "article" reeks of jealousy. Jealous that your club is gunning for 5th, yet have been overshadowed by a club in 11th place that have actually won a trophy this season and have just gone out and stolen a march on the likes of Everton and Villa by signing one of Europe's hottest properties. As a Spurs fan I have been getting all these "experts" saying Modric isn't strong enough to play Prem football(the same experts that have only seen him play 180 minutes of football, when he again, OUTPLAYED Englands much vaunted midfield)and they always tend to be supporters of Villa, Everton, Newcastle or Everton. Every United, Liverpool and even Chelsea fan I have talked to about Modric have all said what a great signing it is. Don't try and compensate for your own sides lack of ambititon by trying to derive Tottenham's.
