The clubs mentioned in the headline are the only Championship sides with nothing left to play for this season, despite the last round of league fixtures being played on Sunday.

Cardiff City are the eighth team sitting comfortably in mid-table, although the Bluebirds have bigger fish to fry when they play Portsmouth in the FA Cup final later this month. For the other 16 clubs, there will be plenty of nervous moments between 2pm and 4pm.

Congratulations to West Brom, who essentially achieved promotion to the Premier League on Monday after a 1-1 draw with Southampton. All that remains for Tony Mowbray's team is to ensure that they go up as champions, something which will be made possible providing they win at Loftus Road at the weekend. Even a draw or defeat could still ensure they grab top spot, providing that Stoke City don't better their result at home to Leicester City.

'Relegation for Southampton and Leicester will surely spell disaster for either club, especially as they were so recently Premier League teams'

For the Potters, being champions is the least of their worries. They need just a point against the Foxes and when you consider they are 27 points clear of Ian Holloway's team, you might be forgiven for thinking this should be a cakewalk for the no-nonsense team from Staffordshire. However, not only is this the Championship, the division where everyone beats everyone, Leicester also need the points in the same way that a fish needs water. City are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone without a safety net, and a loss at the Britannia, coupled with Southampton getting something from their game against Sheffield United, will mean the East Midlands team will be playing League One football next term.

Not that the Blades will be lying down at St Mary's. Kevin Blackwell has been working miracles since replacing Bryan Robson at Bramall Lane and there's still an outside chance that their fast finish to the season can bag a play-off place. While they might sit ninth in the table, a win could see them leapfrog Watford, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Ipswich, and it should be remembered that they have won their last three matches, including home games against Hull and Bristol City.

If you think it's a big ask, consider that United can afford to finish below one of the above and still make it. It's also worth bearing in mind that the Hornets have collected just one point in their last four matches and face a Sunday trip to Blackpool - will Adrian Bothroyd feel like throwing himself off the pier come the end of the match? Nobody could have foreseen the almighty wobble that his team have experienced in the past few months and, despite ten wins on the road, it's now a tall order to see them returning to the top flight. The Seasiders need at least a draw to make completely sure of retaining their place among England's second flight and perhaps book a couple of league matches with Watford next term in the process.

Indeed, Bristol City are the only team who are currently certain to be featuring in the play-offs, although they'll want to beat Preston and ensure that they play the second leg of their semi-final match at Ashton Gate. Hull City are likely to be the other team with home advantage, although the Sky cameras will be at the KC Stadium on Sunday for one reason only. The Tigers still have an outside chance of stealing the second automatic promotion spot, providing they can become only the second team to win at Ipswich and hope that Leicester do them a favour by winning at Stoke. Stranger things have happened.

The Foxes can afford to be beaten 10-0, providing Southampton also lose at home to the Blades and it's certainly been a season to forget for Saints, who were a penalty shoot-out away from beating Derby in last year's play-offs. Sheffield Wednesday are a point better off and have the advantage of Norwich at home, while Coventry need a point at Charlton to also be completely safe. It seems as though a sleeping giant is about to become comatose by joining Colchester and Scunthorpe in football's third tier next term.

Who are your tips for promotion from the Championship and do they stand any chance of staying in the Premier League? Relegation for Southampton and Leicester will surely spell disaster for either club, especially as they were so recently Premier League teams. Nottingham Forest have shown it's not all that easy bouncing straight back up.
