Why Blackburn fans aren't dancing to the Samba magic any more
The lanky defender was a revelation last season and big things were expected of him in 2008. But the Congo international has failed to live up to his initial billing.

There is no doubting that Christopher Samba is an exciting new player in the Premier League. We all know Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has an eye for a bargain buy - just look at the likes of Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy, both excellent purchases.
Samba looked set to be the same last year after his transfer from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in January 2007. The German outfit where reluctant to let the lanky defender go - but the lure of Premier football and excellent facilities at Ewood Park made Samba's choice easy.
The Congo international wowed the Ewood Park crowd through out the latter half of the 2006/2007 season and was a consistent player in central defence, making his tall stature and strong presence known, even against the top players in the league.
He built up a good partnership with the likes of Ryan Nelsen and Andre Ooijer in the heart of the Rovers defence. He has also scored a few key goals in his short time at the club, in which he has now played over 40 matches.

what absolute crap mate, go and support burnley if you don`t know what a top defender is. all our back 4 has suffered this season due to injuries leading to having to swop and change our defence. over the last few games samba and nelson have played together again and the overall view is we are looking solid again, and results back that up.

Very harsh to be honest, mate. Samba hasn't had as good of a season as he had last time around but he's still been a key player and in my opinion better than Big Ryan this year. Don't forget that our entire back four has been on and off with injuries and make-shift solutions, making it a lot harder for a rather unexperienced player to settle in properly. And we'd get a lot more than £2m for him, just look at the fee's teams pay these days... £6m+ imo.

"The good news, though, is that Samba only cost Rovers £400,000"."He is still only 24 and has time to work on his game, his agility and his stature in the Premier League" You would be an absolute arseloch to suggest that he should be anything but a Key player for rovers for years to come. Where else are we going to get a 24 year old centre half with his ability. Do you remember Colin Hendry at 24, He was not half the defender thatr Samba is now, and turned into a Top Top Player. Even is Chris plays 30 games a year instead of 50. and even if we have to accept one poor season, when his mind has not been as focused. We have to keep him, and one day make him CAPTAIN
