Arsenal's cash squeeze should be a warning to Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea
Mathieu Flamini is departing, but as long as Cesc Fabregas and Aleksandr Hleb stay there is nothing for Gunners fans to worry about.

There may be alarm bells ringing in the ears of Arsenal fans after it was revealed that the summer transfer kitty will not be anywhere near the £70m expected. The figure will be far nearer the £25m mark for a number of reasons.
With Mathieu Flamini on his way to AC Milan on June 30, the signs are not looking good for Arsene Wenger. Cesc Fabregas is also being linked with Real Madrid, even though the young Spaniard signed an eight-year extension to his contract in 2006. With Alexander Hleb also being courted by Internazionale it could be a troublesome summer for Wenger.
What is happening at the Emirates is that Arsenal are now being viewed by others as the ultimate school of excellence. Perhaps it was not Wenger's intention, but it seems that he is unable to hold on to the players he is rearing and unnearthing season after season. Is it all so bad?
Well, thanks to the global credit crunch, the expected windfall from the Emirates is not going to arrive this summer. The slowing of the property market has affected sales of flats at the old Highbury stomping ground and ditto at the area surrounding the new stadium. If Wenger can hold on to Hleb and Fabregas the impact will be nowhere near as bad.

How are Arsenal the poor relation when there debt is the least of the big four? (or bankrolled) They are running a buisness that is funded within football and are not gambling on winning one of two cups...

IF, and thats a very big if, Liverpool were ever to finish outside the top 4, then we'd quite simply sell the club to the DIC, who have been interested for years and would love to get us at a cheaper price. Clubs the size of Liverpool, United and Arsenal will ALWAYS be okay. Chelsea are the ones that could struggle, but they wont as long as Abramovich is there.

Well I read a report that Arsenal had already sold 90% of the units at Highbury square last year? If that’s the case then I doubt they’ve taken the full brunt of the current credit crunch. I do though think there’s trouble ahead with anyone trying to finance a new stadium project at the moment – Liverpool, Spuds take note.

a year, but deluded Gooners think a big crowd makes the difference, and it doesnt.I hope we (spurs), dont go down the same route. Attendances are only a factor in the scheme of things, marketing and TV rights far exceed, money via gate receipts, and Arsenal have a massive debt to pay off in the process. Obviously once the Highbury sales filter through, then things will change, but for now its obvious to all and sundry that the money is simply not there. Flamini will cost a fortune to replace, so why let him go?, Hleb at least will get you some cash, and perhaps your only other viable assett is Fabrigas, who will get a little miffed at seeing so many class acts walk through the revolving door at the emirates

Arsenal now earn more on a matchday than Man U. They get stacks of money for being in the champions League and in the premiership you get 1.5 million for each higher place you finish plus the 35 million to be in the prem. Thats Arsenal (third) and Spurs (eleventh) Thats 12 million pounds less.. And you got what a million for winning mickeys trophy.

Arsenal may not have a sugar daddy willing to gamble millions from his personal fortune. Mr Usmanov is, of course, waiting in the wings. Arsene has been given the job of keeping Arsenal in the race while the cost of the new stadium is paid for. Patience is required as significant monies will not be released from the sale of Highbury Square for another year or so.Progress has been made this year. If, the club stays profitable and manages its debts, the future is bright.

No three years Patrick Vieira penalty Essexian remember!!........ And your last Div 1/ Premiership was?..... And the last time spuds beat Arsenal in the league was?????/
Its about your team getting into a debt that could set your ambitions back years, and all you can think about is getting one over us.Typical deluded gooner.Glad you put the prem clause in your jibe, because the last time we met; you were really thumped and how!
The Prem clause was because thats where the money is not in the Carling. It's not getting one over on you it's the fact that Spurs are going down the stadium building route.. And arsenal won the FA cup three years ago and they thought that was a crap season..

Arsenal's approach has always been frugal and long term. They rarely pay top euro for a big name player, preferring to bring lesser known but hidden talents to the Emirates and developing them over a 3-4 year period. Arsenal work on the basis that one player does NOT make a team, but a solid team WILL make an ordinary player extraordinary (Henry, Lungberg, Flamini, Lehman, etc.). Their growth towards being the best in Europe is temporarily arrested as certain players are recruited from them by big money teams and it sometimes seems that Arsenal are the training ground for future Eurostars but in actual fact, they have more than enough talent in the wings to not only survive but progress towards being champions. They DO have to strengthen their central defense and find another fox in the box but that said, they have shown they can handle ANY team on any given night worldwide. Their rivalry with Spurs is fabulous and it is always a tossup who will win, but that only serves to embellish the PL and Football in general. I am looking forward to 2008-9 and Arsenal's next step towards greatness (and I hope Spurs as well(.
