Davids Bentley has been in superb form for Blackburn Rovers throughout this season. He has made Rovers midfield a lot stronger since his move from Arsenal, where he had little opportunity to flourish, playing only limited reserve games.

It was a big move for the youngster. By deciding to join amid-division (but admittedly ambitious) team like Blackburn he virtually forfeited the chance of more immediate Premier Ledague and Champions Ledague opportunities.

But Mark Hughes persuaded Bentley to join the Blackburn line-up guaranteeing him first team football and enabling the player to show just what he can do on the pitch. I think Bentley has been a great success this season and is definately a player Rovers do not want to lose in the summer transfer market. The team would not be the same if a big club came in with a big offer that Hughes and the club could not turn down.

'Bentley has comeback stronger to face his critics and has won back his international status'

Bentley's strength is his attacking nature. He is confident when striking the ball, making him very dangerous from set plays illustrated by his ever growing goals tally for the Ewood Park outfit. He is also a great crosser of the ball and this works well in tandum with the goal-scoring nature of strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy.

Bentley has matured during the season, even more so after the debacle of not being picked for the England squad due to him snubbing the Under-21 tournament to rest after a long 2006/2007 season.

Bentley has comeback stronger to face his critics and has won back his international status. He is tipped to be the next David Beckham in the England squad, though this will be tough to achieve.

I think David fits in well with his Rovers colleagues and although confident in his ability he is not selfish often playing the ball to his team-mates in attacking situations.

He is not afraid to defend either and knows how important it is to help out at every opportunity. I'm not the only one to have been impressed with his performances this season. Many soccer pundits have hailed Bentley as a potential new star in the making and I am sure the player is grateful for the trust that Mark Hughes has given him.

Many people say Bentley is destined for better things with a bigger club but I hope that he stays with this ambitious Blackburn team for a couple more seasons at least, as they are just starting to show their full potential and have big plans for the 2008/2009 season.

Bentley is an integral part of Rovers team and I certainly think he is one player we cannot afford to lose to a bigger club. Mark Hughes may have to be very persuasive though in keeping the England midfielder. Let's hope he can be!
