Liverpool's THREE biggest flops of the season
We all know of Liverpool's high profile successes, with Torres, Lucas and Gerrard stealing the plaudits and headlines. But what about those who have misfired?

Liverpool’s transfer dealings this past season have been something of a mixed bag. Some great, others not so good!
Of course, we have welcomed the wonders produced by new Anfield darling Fernando Torres, and Lucas Leiva has also begun blending well into the centre of midfield after a difficult transition from Gremio.
However, I'm afraid the successes are clearly outnumbered by the failures, both from current players and those brought in over the summer. Let's have a look where we went wrong:
Andriy VoroninBrought in on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, without having the pressure of a multi-million pricetag to live up to. Nevertheless, what performances have been produced by the Ukranian striker have been ropey at best, contrasting sound displays in August and September with truly howling performances towards the end of the season.

Kuyt is a flop too. He did ok in Europe but one league goal from open play is a joke for a £9 million striker. Oh sorry I forgot he's a winger now like Diouf was too after they flopped up front. Kuyt is lucky Veronin and co are so bad or the fans would demand he be dumped. As it is we have other steaks to fry first. Veronin. Riise, Kewell, Pennant.

Hi Voronin. No argument. Bobbins personified. Crouch. No way. He hasn't played much but when he has, he's done enough to prove he is still a good player and he's been effective. His goals per minute ratio is good. Riise has been dire. In my eyes he is the number one reason we are not in the CL Final (with Arbeloa reason number 2). It is not just his own goal but also the way he was made to look a mug by Anelka for Drogba's second. I'm don't blame him for Drogba's first but I think a better player might have been quicker to react and been closer to the ball when Drogba shot. Kewell has certainly been pants but with his injuries he wouldn't be on my list. He has largely been an irrelevance. I've been disappointed with Babel, not because he has been as poor as Kewell but because he has massively underperformed. He is strong, quick, can dribble, has a good shot (direction is a problem) and good feet and yet this has not been enough for him to make many match winning contributions. The lad has let himself down. We can all see that there's something there but he needs to sort out his mind and start believing in himself quickly before his chances to shine start to dry up. I'd hate him to be another Heskey. Talent to burn but a weak mind. Arbeloa has also been disappointing. I had high hopes for him and thought he was going to be a top player but he has been quite poor recently. He has been out of position far too often, acted like a headless chicken and dived recklessly into challenges and ended up getting skinned far too often. He also seems to have developed an annoying habit of constantly grabbing opponents and pulling shirts in the penalty area instead of getting the right side of the ball and getting a tackle in. He has all the appearance of a disaster waiting to happen and he has been happening too often recently. I hope the old more promising Arbeloa comes back soon.

Flops(Benitez signings, still at the club): Voronin(Free transfer) - You get what you pay for Pennant - Hasn't delivered in his 2 seasons at Anfield needs to be shot of. Original Deadwood: Riise - Has been terrible for the couple of seasons but has served the club well Kewell - Money grabbing, injury prone primadonna. ---------------- As for the criticism's of Kuyt, he has a job in the team and does it well. An average player but still offers a lot to the team's cause.

Rafa instead of putting 15m pounds tag on Crouch he is better sell Arbeloa and Reina when these two players are in a line-up I must honestly admit I shiver of fear and I think many liverpool fans feel like I do. Rafa must exchange them in two deals. We should blame not only Riise but Arbeloa and also Reina for the own goal. Arbeloa could not let Kalou cross the ball and Reina could catch the ball before Riise head the ball into his own goal. Reina is not confident in catching the crosses and also concedes simple goals and goals from closed angles. If Rafa wants wants stay and work for liverpool he must put aside favouritism with his compatriots. Rafa in a deal can exchange Reina with Diego Lopez or Kameny and also Arbeloa with Amorebieta.

I thought i had misread when you said Reina must be gotten rid of. Three seasons in english football, and he's about to win his third golden glove award for most clean sheets. whoever you are, you have no idea about spotting talent. reina is the best keeper in england, bar none. i suppose you think torres misses too much, and gerrard gets forward to much at the expense of midfield. you are a muppet, and obviously have no idea about what you're talking about. oh no - you're andy gray aren't you?

Whilst not defending whathisname's comments, Reina clearly had a wobble in the second half of the season. He was behind a defence playing 2 defensive-minded central midfielders and a very defensive-minded back four which frequently contained two centre backs, so clean sheets are not a good marker of his overall performance. He was ok this season, sometimes good.sometimes not so good. His catching has been virtually non-existent and he invited pressure from Chelsea in the champions league as result. Is he really that much better than Scott Carson? I can't tell at the moment. Carson is better at catching crosses and dominates his area better at set pieces - Reina is always being outmuscled at inswinging free-kicks. He is miles better at instinctive saves though. I think i would stick with him, but to say that because goals don't go in makes him a good keeper (David James has been miles better this year and has conceded many more) is a touch simplistic.
that shoould read three centre backs not two by the way.

Kuyt, Pennant, Riise, Arbeloa must leave. Crouch can b a squad player. Select when we play teams with short defenders. Kewell?? long over due. shld release him a long time ago. Get Babel to play second striker. Solve a lot of problem.

Why cant Liverpool Management replace Rafa with Jose Mourhino, just look at what he has done with Chelsea long known for the No 4 position, he has changed them into a formitable winning team, and we only won Champions league the prize should be really Premiership

yeah - great idea, just look what Jose did with a half billion pound squad / budget... muppet
