Wow. what a match I have just witnessed in the Spanish La Liga. Very rarely do I get to watch the European leagues as my housemates think I watch too much sport as it is. But tonight I had the house to myself and settled down to watch Real Zaragoza play Real Madrid.
I had only just got over my team Blackburn failing miserably to get an Intertoto Cup spot in the Premier League and was in need of some entertaining football to keep my mind distracted. And this match was entertaining at the very least - it was Spanish football at its best.
Zaragoza came into the match in need of a win to avoid plummeting even deeper into relegation trouble, while Real Madrid were already crowned La Liga champions for the season by virtue of their remarkable form of late, culminating in winning their last match after trailing 1-0 to Osasuna after 86 minutes - and being a man down. Their remarkable comeback saw them score twice in three mins to make sure of the title.
The 4-1 home win against Barcelona in midweek also showed the power of the Madrid team. Their closest rivals Villarreal were miles behind in the league and so the match against Zaragoza was somewhat of a friendly for the champions because it didn't matter if they won.

I think Zaragoza have been more let down by their strikeforce than by their defence, at leat in this game - For a team with supposedly so much quality, they wasted chance after chance, and not all of it due to Dudek's reflexes.
