Roy's the boy! Why Makaay would be a Dutch of class for Blackburn Rovers
He has bags of experience, he's a proven goalscorer and he's already played with Roque Santa Cruz at Bayern Munich. All the signs point to the fact Makaay would be a great summer signing for Mark Hughes.

A miserable 4-1 defeat to Birmingham at the weekend ruined Blackburn Rovers' chance of a place in Europe through the InterToto Cup. They had their chances but with Birmingham trying to avoid relegation Blackburn failed to take advantage of their nervous opponents.
So, with no place in Europe will Blackburn's stars leave for greater things? Will Chelsea snap at the chance to buy David Bentley and offer Blackburn so much money that the Lancashire side could not refuse?
Will Manchester Utd try to sign Roque Santa Cruz in a bid to keep hold of their supremacy in England? If they do then Blackburn should start looking for some more bargains this summer and use some of the transfer money for its stars wisely.
Let's hope, however, that Mark Hughes can persuade his players to stay and fight for Europe next season. He has already bagged the services of Benni McCarthy for three more years and, with Blackburn finishing seventh this season, the club is very ambitious to improve further - as is the manager.

With the Blackburn fans complaining about McCarthy's work ethics, and you want to sign Makaay at 33?? Good finisher, but Pizarro did all the work at Bayern - and he's not good enough to warrant a transfer sum at 33. He's not Batistuta.

If McCarthy is world class and Roberts isnt good enough, why did Roberts take his place and put in better performances than i've seen McCarthy put in this season? Also if Makaay was 4 years younger maybe, although he wouldn't come to Rovers if he was only 29.... We need a left winger to pressure Pedersen and some bolstering in central midfield.
how can you right a full page on signing a player that we haven't even been linked to?? I'm just finishing off my "would messi be a good buy?" article...
