Shambolic Portsmouth don’t deserve to beat Cardiff in the FA Cup final
Harry Redknapp's men have really taken their foot off the pedal in recent weeks. Let's hope the Bluebirds make them pay for their complacency this Saturday.

Portsmouth have been a shambles in recent weeks. Harry Redknapp's men have been coasting in the run-up to Saturday’s Wembley showdown - and ultimately having a huge say in which teams were relegated from the Premier League.
All neutrals should be supporting Cardiff City this weekend and hoping this competition throws up yet another upset.
It’s a breath of fresh air to see this year’s FA Cup finalists come from outside the Big Four. At the start of the season, bookmakers were making it a big odds-on chance that one of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool would scoop this particular piece of silverware, as they have done every campaign since 1994/5, when Everton triumphed.
We can thank Barnsley for making sure this didn’t happen in 2007/8 after famous victories at Anfield and Oakwell gave us the hugely unlikely scenario of three Championship teams in the semi-finals.

Did you watch the Portsmouth game on Saturday? No, I didn't think so - to accuse Pompey of not trying against Fulham is quite frankly ridiculous. Portsmouth were by far the better side, but their lack of concentration from a set-piece cost the game. OK so their heads may have been at Wembley for the last few games, but so would yours - you have no idea how much this means to the city of Portsmouth. This is a disgraceful article that gives one person's abusive view of one of the most entertaining teams in the country, and I don't know how you have got away with writing it.

SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY MATE

Absolute rubbish. Clubs who were relegated shouldn't be looking to blame Pompey...they should try looking at themselves over the whole season....that's football. As for neutrals wanting Cardiff to win..... hmmm, come on England !

Well said James! This is a dreadful, vindictive piece which has 'bitterness' written all over it. Let's also not for get that David James, who has had another outstanding season, missed those last few games. His form has been key to Portsmouth's success and Jamie Ashdown has looked decent but not really outstanding enough to deserve a longer run. Many other key players are coming back into the side, and the team has an array of stars who are all big-match players and know what it's like to play a game of such magnitude. They'll certainly turn up and do well, you can count on that!

shut up mate!

The author of that article might as well finish his journalistic career now. Any article is meant to be balanced and the ridiculous "I hate pompey - fest" that he has written omits vital facts like Jamo being injured. Is he a fan of Reading or Cardiff?? Absolutey shocking.
by pete portsmouth on May 14, 2008
so "chester carrick", have yiyu ever been in an FA cup final? have you ever reresented your country at anything, had any chance of winning the oldest, and one of the most famous competitions in the world? have you ever watched pompey play? Sure, the last 4 games have not been great - but it takes more than 1 game to relegate a club, and more than 1 to save it. fulhams run of form has been good anyway, newcastle were safe when we played them, boro were practicly safe, and man city...well. Seriously, loosing to does not say we dont care about the premierleague - it just shows that we have a once in a life time chance, and we arn't going to ***** it up!
Obviously Chester Carrick you're a Reading fan with a chip on his shoulder, articles like this are a massive waste of space. It will be a close game on Saturday but if we win we WILL have deserved it. Play Up Pompey!!!!

Sounds very sour grapes. How can you say Pompey don't deserve to beat Cardiff? The games not even been played yet for goodness sake. Come back and write your article once the game has panned out. Call yourself a journalist? Get back to University now I think.

Essexian76 (14/05/2008 23:15) Comment Quote Report abuse Regards Bent He didnt cost s 16.5million, he was intially 5mill, and the remainer to be settled over 5 years I think?, however that aside; he was bought because of Defoes reluctance to sign a new deal, and walk for nothing hence the reduced 7million Pompey paid, secondly there was also a strong possibility that Berba would leave last summer, so where would that leave us;? it was a fair assumption that he along with Keane would be our spearhead for this season, with another striker coming in later.

Let's hope you weren't actually PAID to write that article.
by Peter Cattering on May 15, 2008
No mention of Sol and Jamo being injured. No mention of us putting in decent performances. This isn't a news article. It's written to provoke a reaction. Weak tabloid style trash. Makes a mockery of this site.
by Guy Whittingham on May 15, 2008
What an absoloute joke of an article written by someone who clearly does not watch or understand football. Journalism at its absoloute lowest. Where is the argument? Surely if the tripe you've written here is true Spurs' are even more culpable seeing as they have barely strung two results together after winning the Carling Cup? Utter garbage I'd give up mate
by Lawrence Miller on May 15, 2008
Two issues really. First, if you want neutrals to support Cardiff then they are not neutrals they are... Cardiff fans. Secondly, they did not actually reach their playoffs. I tell you what, why don't you give us a check list of teams we're allowed to beat and which ones we can't. After all, we don't want to relegate someone by mistake eh. Let me guess, you're a birmingham or reading fan!?
by Jon King on May 15, 2008
Did the writer of this article just graduate from nursery. Cleary has no hold on the game of football. Utter nonsense.
by Peter Pepper on May 15, 2008
I can not beleieve that this site has allowed an idiot to write an article for them? I see we can report comments as Abusive, but surely we should be able to report the article too. I have never read such a lot of rubbish. I suppport reading, and if We had stayed up, we would be happy. We didnt, we failed, but we didnt invest either, so who is to Blame??? Portsmoouth??? Fulham???? No! Reading, we went down after 38 games. not the last game.
by Peter Piper on May 15, 2008
The writer of this article has shown themselves to know absolutely nothing about football. I can only assume this idiot didnt watch the Fulham game on Sunday as from what I saw Pompey were all over Fulham. I think it is unfair of others to say he is a Reading fan as I really dont think Reading fans are stupid.
by JAmie Birch on May 15, 2008
what a load of old tosh this is then does this idiot who is writing this watch football i cant believe ud write a load of nosense like this u r either a scummer or welsh! Pompey saved this performance 4 the last and most important game they played well against fulham and played well against man city not to well against borough tho but i think everyone no's thats its unlikely an upset will happen Sportingo what a load of old shit!!!
