Gareth Barry (Aston Villa) – Seems more than likely to leave Villa Park, which is a shame for Martin O’Neill and the club's loyal fans. Would a move to one of the top four clubs be a wise one, though? Either way it is understandable why Chelsea and Liverpool are strongly linked with the England international, who just had his best season to date.
Gilberto Silva (Arsenal) – The Brazilian may have been a bit sub-standard on the occasions he did get a chance in the Arsenal first team but he can still do a great job. It does seem very likely he will head to Serie A but there have been hints of a potential move to the likes of Manchester City. Also, it is worth noting that in '06/'07 he was possibly the player of the season at the Emirates and good players don’t just suddenly become bad.
Lassana Diarra (Portsmouth) – After being pretty much a regular sub at Chelsea and Arsenal, the French midfielder has had a fantastic half-season at Fratton Park but has been linked with a move to a ‘bigger’ club. He may, of course, prefer life as a regular starter at a club who are moving ever upwards under the excellent management of Harry Redknapp. He has been linked with a move to many clubs in recent weeks, from Spurs to, again, Man City.
Richard Dunne (Manchester City) – Seemingly disillusioned at recent events involving the scandalous sacking of Sven, Dunne may be on his way out which would be a disaster for the Eastlands outfit as he has been outstanding during the season. The former Everton man has been a rock at the centre of the defence and there will be no shortage of prospective suitors with Liverpool having been linked to the Irishman.

Well thought out piece with interesting points, i enjoyed it. I think at least six of these will be at new clubs.
by Craig on May 14, 2008
I agree with your points on Crouch, Rafa please keep him and use him more often!
by Trevor on May 14, 2008
I like your writing style and i think this is an unbiased account of these players, which is in itself very rare! Darren Bent for instance is a player who generates a lot of negative content but i agree that he is not to blame for his over inflated fee. Also as a Spurs fan i would like to see Diarra join the WHL revolution!

Really good concise piece. I agree with your points about Gilbero Silva, he was poor in some games but proved himself in others and i really think he still has a good season or two in him, although i think he should stay at Arsenal now that traitor Flamini has left!

I hope he doesn't leave! I mean we have done very well this season and whilst we have many good players and some great prospects coming through, Gareth is such a huge part of the club that him leaving could knock the wind out of our sails

Come on Diarra, i know you used to play for Arsenal (but we all make mistakes and you got out quick enough!), would be a great signing for Spurs and Juande should sign him up quick!
by GEORDIE on May 14, 2008
AS A TOON FAN I PERSONALLY WOULD TAKE DIARRA,CROUCH,SHOREY AND RICKY DUNNE ON BOARD. ALL GOOD SIGNINGS IF THEIR OWN CLUBS FOOLISHLY LET THEM LEAVE. BY THE WAY , I LIKE THE UNBIASSED APPROACH. GOOD ON YA.

As a Spurs fan, completely agree about Bent, if he played every week he'd be scoring with regularity, he's a good player. Top scoring Englishman 2 yrs in a row at Charlton, that doesn't happen once by luck, let alone twice! I hope he stays.. I also hope Spurs go for Crouch.. along with Robbie Keane, he's so underrated. He reminds of Sheringham, his first touch is amazing (not for a big bloke - for a footballer) and his vision and passing and movement are brilliant. I'd love to have him back at WHL... I feel sorry for Villa as well, just as things start looking up and they look like they could push for that best of rest pack along with us and Everton (I can't see Portsmouth doing it again and man City look to be falling apart, I also think Blackburn will lose Benley-hopefully to us-because he showed when it came to U21's, he's strong enough to make umpopular decisions to help his career) Barry sees an opportunity to move to a bigger club, but Villa, imo, are a big club in their own right, and the top 4 will remain the top 4 forever if this keeps happenning! why not stay at Villa and have the pride of taking th team you love to a new level... under a great manager as well. It's a shame really!

It's funny the sportingo headline features clubs, 3rd, 11th, 4th and 1st what about Chelsea they buy players and English ones and the other six clubs before Spurs.

I think this is the best time for man u to boost theiar defense with a player like Richards of man city. This will realy help them Next season
by Gavaldinho on May 14, 2008
You lot would take whoever you can get... Problem is, nobody wants to play for your shit club! You buy crap average players and pay them a fortune and think that because you pay 100k a week, you have a 100k a week player, mugs. Even somebody who has only been in the country once (Modic) choose us, on lower pay, rather than sign for you lot! LMAO

Stop your bleating It's one thing to live in dreamland with your constant crap about how great you think the Springboks are - it's another thing to be racist to Maori tradition. I look forward to the Canes and Crusaders wiping your Super 14 faces, and the All Blacks to smash your cheating boks

Let Sir buy defender like Danny Shitu of Wartford or Richards of Man City to have formidable defence and also let him by strikers in order to make Man U more dangerous than any other team in the world.

Crouch is an extremley useful striker but it is almost evident that he is being wasted at Anfield so a move will only do him good i say mancity is a smart first choice as they seem to only gat goals from midfiled also a move outside of the premiership is good diversify the talent all around europe. the premier league is full of stars it will only be fair to see some of them fly their trade elsewhere. Darren Bent is a fantastic striker who fights every second of hte game and works hard to score. i would say he is a utility man (due to his size) and is definitely being foolishly overlooked at Spurs. LEAVE THE CLUB DARREN. again mancity would be an okay move but their style of play hardly suits you there's always the option 2 stay if berbatov leaves an they don't sign Eto'o then bent is the perfect man to take the mantle. only time will tell. Gareth barry is arguably the best left midfielder in the premiership and considering he is at a club like Villa and has done all those great things that only goes to show his ability a move to liverpool would be fantastic no doubt but bear in mind Rafa's rotation system that may hamper his status as a natural starter. if he is to leave it must be a step up to one of the top 4 clubs (arsenal livers man u or chelsea) or to one of europes elite. Milan is in need of some talent d3esperately and with flamin already there and drogba on his way then why not Barry. it would be a perfect addition to milans squad as they push for trophies next season.

I'll give you the trophies for next season now. Most overrated club: Winner: Liverpool Biggest Thieving Supporters: Winner : Liverpool Team that always think they will win the EPL before the season begins and then when he season begins they fall flat on their arses and realise they cant match Manchester United: Winners Liverpool
