How much higher can Hughes take Blackburn Rovers?
A seventh-place finish in the Premier League is nothing to be laughed at and for a team with less money than most, Sparky's bargains have outperformed many of the Premier League's more expensive players.

Blackburn Rovers have had another consistent year in footballing terms. No other teams can compete with Manchester United FC, Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC for the Premier League title. They are just too dominant, and although the odd upset can occur, over the whole season they outperform their rivals.
Blackburn finished in seventh place - another credible position for my Lancashire team. They competed season-long with the likes of Aston Villa, Everton, Portsmouth and Manchester City in a mini mid-division league, changing places every week for the chance to gain entry into the UEFA Cup or Intertoto Cup.
Blackburn only lost 10 games all season and with the leaky defence they have it just goes to show how vital the attacking nature of David Bentley and Roque Santa Cruz proved to be.
Brad Friedel was also one of the stars and gained valuable points for Rovers in tight matches with some superb goalkeeping. A few more quality players would see Blackburn challenge for that coveted fifth-place finish, so here's hoping Mark Hughes is able to spot more bargains in the summer to strengthen the club's ambitions for the new season.

A good seaseon by all accounts. Bit disappointed by the last day result as that could have made a good season great. Dissapointed with benni and matt derbs (no real progress this year for me). Also think steven reid isn't the player he was but i'll give him time. Star of the season - steven warnock. vogel looks good too. And i don't want to shock anyone but i think nelsen has been a liability at times. Roll on transfer deadline day - the highlight of the post season.

I agree a good season all round... Remember that Nelsen and Reid both played with injury niggles... and Roque had back problem for the middle stint, Benni was disappionting with the notorious second season syndrome. It was that middle stint that did us in... loss of form from Big Chris and without the Admiral our "Ewood Wall" faltered... we need strength in depth... we need Tugay mark II... We need to keep DB... Don't rule out Sparky throwing out the rule book and Rovers breaking into the top four, even if only for just one season.
