Manchester City's future is bright - with or without Sven
Despite the post-season anger directed at Thaksin Shinawatra, no-one can doubt the Thai owner's ambition for the club. And with money available and a slot in Europe secured, there should be plenty of optimism around Eastlands.

The last few weeks has seen chaos rain in on Manchester City ever since news emerged that Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra had fallen out of love with manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
There were stories of a player revolt led by Richard Dunne and celebrity fan Noel Gallagher summed up the feelings of many City supporters, claiming the owner was "tripping" in threatening to sack the Swede. It seems that the good old days of Manchester City, snatching defeat from the claws of victory, are back.
Yet, from an outsider's perspective, this was an inevitability waiting to happen. Not specifically with regard to the current events at Eastlands, but rather a news-feed of a billionaire chairman in the Premier League dismissing a fans' favourite because they think they know better.
Imagine if Chelsea had not been immediately successful following Roman Abramovich's acquisition. Does anyone think that the Russian oligarch would accept Chelsea finishing outside the top four? Even if the manager at the time was his own mother, heads would be rolling following the under-achievement.

It's not like we have a choice in the matter tbh. I just hope that if Dr Thaksin is dragging us kicking an screaming upwards to glory, we don't lose any of our values or pride along the way. I would hate to see us become a sell-out Chelski clone. MCFC has a lot of passion and pride and a wonderful history - it would be a travesty if it was all thrown aside in search of glory.

I think it is great that Thaksin is backing the club with his own finances, however he seems to be treating Sven badly, he asked for top 10 this year, he got that and Europe and we did the double on United. He can't expect unconditional backing, he can be expected to be treated based on his actions, donating millions is only one of those actions

Sadly Man City are getting what they deserve, no more, no less. Dr Thaksins highly questionable past and current motives coupled with his lack of familiarity with football culture was always going to lead to this type of disruption. Man C is in for a very bumpy ride, much of which may be the result of what is glibly called 'misunderstandings' in Thailand. There is a perception that this club was purchased as a way of ensuring media exposure back home in preparation for a return to politics for this fallen hero. Hardly the sort of thing that will make a footballer run through a brick wall for his team.

Dr takshin is doing great . City will definitely finish in the top 6 the next season (08-09)
Thanks for the response. Not as illuminating as I would have hoped for but if thats the best you can muster we shall have to consol ourselves with that. I lived in Thailand for 10 years and do not need the 'same old newspapers' to do my research. As for the bumpy ride, you may be happy with recent results and the state of the clubs affairs generally but my guess is you would be in a very small minority.
