Could the signatures of Dani Guiza, Mario Gomez and Marco Borriello be the most coveted of the summer?

This past weekend saw a number of clubs’ fates decided in Europe. In Italy, Inter Milan won the Scudetto, Parma were relegated and AC Milan were pipped by Fiorentina for a place in the Champions League (is Mathieu Flamini perhaps beginning to regret his move to the San Siro to play UEFA Cup football?).
Also in recent days, Lyon claimed their seventh successive title, Real Zaragoza were relegated in Spain and Oliver Kahn bade farewell to football in Germany. Many of these dramatic incidents brought compelling campaigns to a close with the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland to look forward to.
As always, the domestic seasons in every country threw up some new names, especially up front, where a new batch of goal-scorers have announced themselves or confirmed their quality to the watching public. Thankfully, some of these players will be gracing the Euros and here is my guide to three little-known strikers who could be household names by the middle of July.
Dani Guiza: The Mallorca forward bagged 27 goals in a campaign that saw him finish as this season’s “Pichichi” – the top scorer in La Liga. Ten goals in his last seven matches at the end of an incredible season suggest that Guiza is finally beginning to reach his potential at the age of 27. Only last week he ruined the send-off for Frank Rijkaard at the Nou Camp with a late winner and he has been strongly linked with a move to the new-look Barca under Pep Guardiola.

Gomez is likely to be hot property in the European transfer market. (Video evidence here.) Wengers mum could have put that away.

The link to a Mario Gomez' goal actually shows a video of Peruvian Paolo Guerrero, who plays in Hamburg, not Stuttgart. Nice goal, though.
