1. His record at major international tournaments speaks for itself; Miroslav Klose is the only player ever to have scored five or more goals in consecutive World Cups with five in 2002 and the same number again in 2006. He has also now scored 39 goals in just 75 internationals, which is a phenomenal record, and he should add to his impressive tally this summer

2. His current form is another reason why Klose will undoubtedly score goals this summer. He hit 21 in his first season as a Bayern Munich player whilst his partnership with Luca Toni contributed 44 goals for the champions. He has also been scoring frequently in the build-up to the tournament.

3. Although he will have Lukas Podolski or Mario Gomez alongside him, Klose’s position as Germany’s No.1 striker is seemingly not under threat with the other two main forwards battling to play alongside the 29-year-old.

4. His strike partners will also help Klose become a success. He will either play alongside his club partner Podolski or the German footballer of the year for 2007, Gomez. Gomez has been tipped by pundits to shine in Euro 2008 with six goals in nine starts for his country at the age of just 22. Klose is well-known for his unselfish play and large number of assists and many predict he could form a deadly combination with either strike partner. In World Cup 2006, for example, his unselfish play helped set up both of Podolski’s goals in Germany's 2-0 win over Sweden.

5. When you consider that Italy, Holland and France are in the same qualifying group, the Germans are in a seemingly easy section with Poland, Croatia and arguably one of the worst teams in the tournament - Austria. Croatia are the only real rivals for a place in the knockout stages and the German fans and management are equally confident of surviving the early stages unharmed. We could well be seeing Klose score plenty against a Polish team that Germany beat twice in qualifying and a poor Austrian side before the knockout phases begin.
