This is part of the problem at Everton; they market themselves as ‘The People's Club’ yet very rarely inform supporters of events at the club. I dare say most fans do not know who is running the club. Is it Bill Kenwright, Keith Wyness, Robert Earle or even Sir Philip Green? And just what does Jon Woods do?
David Moyes is exempt from any blame as he has been a revelation since arriving at the club and if it were not for his team doing the business on the pitch then a lot of people would have turned their backs on the club long ago.
It is worth pointing out that David Moyes posed with a “Keep Everton in Our City” banner whilst on a tour in America, but the club PR officer stated he was tricked into it. However, people who were there say that Moyes saw the banner and approached them to ask why they were opposed to the relocation. It turns out he had similar thoughts! As previously stated, the people who support the move would be financial beneficiaries from the move.
I am fully aware that this article is starting to sound like a rant, but rest assured it wasn’t my intention. The relationship between fans and the club is barely noticeable. Almost 4,000 fans have not renewed their season ticket through a combination of high prices and the club’s decision (note – not the fan’s decision) to relocate to Knowsley.
The bulk of Goodison Park’s problems highlighted by Keith Wyness can be fixed with one new stand (executive facilities, corporate facilities etc.) and bizarrely some will still not be addressed if we do move to Kirkby (parking problems, not enough corporate facilities). The houses and scrapyard behind the Bullens Road stand would cost less than £12m to purchase. Why are the club not following this up? They are currently preparing to spend £78m plus interest on a new stadium with a capacity of only 9,000 more seats. It doesn’t make financial sense.
If they had followed this up and it wasn’t available they would have told us, because it would have been another material consideration for them to put in the planning application. The fans have been misled, of that there is no doubt. I shall share a few examples:
The nearest car parks are over two miles away. The car park adjacent to the stadium is for VIP Guests, and Tesco’s car park is for customers only. There were scare stories from the club. They stated that the alternative stadium plans were not viable, and sadly fans believed them despite later being proven wrong. We were shown drawings of the new stadium with searchlights pointing to the sky; these will not be in the final design. We were told that Everton could host concerts at the stadium and it was an essential part of bringing revenue to the club. The planning application indicates that the stadium will not be given permission for commission but that Knowsley Council can use the stadium up to 100 times a year for their own needs (for ever).Everton FC should not be forced into a conurbation on the outskirts because the current custodians do not have either the vision or foresight to redevelop Goodison Park or the ability to deliver a new stadium on their own that is easily accessible by a minimum of 50,000 Evertonians.Everton are the city’s premier team and currently the country’s fourth most successful team. They were founders of the Football League and founder members of the Premier League,

i have said this before when liverpool get their new ground have everton lease anfield to play their home games there, it would give everton 3 years to rebuild goodison from the ground up
by Chris Barrall on June 07, 2008
I find it sick that liverpool are allowed to build on stanley park n Everton cant sounds like a conspiracy to me, everything possible should be done to keep Everton at goodison and i agree that communication between club and fans is non existant, it drives me crazy. NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM.

You work for KEIOC!
by john na on June 07, 2008
well im not renewing my season ticket till we stay in the city is confirmed everton phoned me up and asked me if im renewing and i told the the above statement , i cant speak for everyone else but in my case its true .
by L Platt on June 07, 2008
Please see comments on part two, - it just so happens that I share a lot of my thoughts with the KEIOC campaign and that is why I first approached them in February. All of the above (parts one, two and three) are my opinion and my opinion only. I have not asked for input from anybody else nor has anyone has seen my article bar the Sportingo editor prior to publication. I am expressing my opinion. As the Sportingo Editor mentioned in the bold text, you are more than welcome to submit your own article as to why Kirkby is the answer with reasons. Simon Currie - The Daily Mirror recently published a story showing the percentages of season ticket holders who are not renewing their season tickets, I reasoned that this is because of a combination of high season ticket prices and some don't want to renew until the 'Kirkby debate' has blown over. What needs proving? Mark Johnson - Bias implies that I am trying to influence you in an unfair way, as I have already pointed out I have nothing to gain from Everton not relocating to Kirkby. Each article on Sportingo is bias because each 'journalist' is contributing their opinion on something. In my case I opted to write about the Kirkby ground move, the Sportingo Editor didn't seem to mind, he suggested it be split up into a three-part special. Also "work" implies that I get paid for doing it, volunteer would be more appropiate. I volunteer my time to promote that there are alternatives available to Kirkby because I don't believe it is right for the club. The biggest positive about the Kirkby move from a fans point of view is that seats will have a clear sightline to all parts of the pitch - this can be achieved at Goodison Park. I read the stadium documentation because I am interested in what Everton FC's proposed new home could be like and I join the debates on the unofficial websites. I stand by everything I've posted in that article unless I'm proven wrong. I have what I believe are the best interests of the club at heart.
"Daily Mirror recently published a story showing the percentages of season ticket holders who are not renewing their season tickets, I reasoned that this is because of a combination of high season ticket prices and some don't want to renew until the 'Kirkby debate' has blown over. What needs proving?" Well if the mirror said it, that means it must be true!! You have neither proved the story itself is true or that your wild presumption is true. Utter rubbish of the highest order, if your not with them already i suggest you join keioc, there always looking for people who havent got a clue
by Dave Kelly on June 07, 2008
Funny how you ignore the lies being peddled by KEIOC, and the stories they've had to pull from their site due to the fact they have been absolute lies. Maybe what KEIOC should do is announce on a regional radio station that we're being taken over by Russians despite the complete lack of evidence to back this. Louise you'd do better if you could actually back your facts up instead of coming across as a liar.
Simon Currie - I believe the research was carried out by the FSF (Football Supporters Federation) and it was later published in the Mirror. If you doubt the validity of the results, there's nothing I can do but suggest you contact Malcolm Clarke at FSF or contact Laurie Hanna at the Mirror to request further information. If it is found to be inaccurate I am more than happy to contact the Sportingo editor and request the above article be modified. Also for the record, I didn't select the sentence to be used in a quote above. I would have probably have chosen "New space, new stadium, new Everton. - There was nothing wrong with the old Everton." 'Dave Kelly' - You don't know was edited on the site so you are in no position to comment and you are way off the mark with your 'absolute lies' assumption. 'The Russians' rumour was first mentioned by a Liverpool Echo sports editor and later by a Liverpool Echo journalist in his web blog prior to Dave Kelly's appearance on the radio, but as always believe what you want to believe.
You believe but dont know? You havent told us how you believe this is a result of the kirkby move. Also this shouldnt have been carried out at the beginning of the summer as people say things they dont mean. If the season tickets are down in Aug (I very much doubt they will be) then i suggest you do some homework and find out why and not just jump to some silly conclusion based on your biased views. As for Dave Kelly (The keioc one), i wonder if he has received the phone call from Bernie Ecclestone yet? After he comically (Not for 1st time) stated he wants Bernie to call him on his everton ringtone mobile. I will be almost disappointed when this finishes and we move to kirkby, as keioc have given me so many laughs over the last yr

Utter garbage - more KEIOC inspired, biased, waffle, light on FACTS & heavy on assumptions. Boring, boring, boring.
by Barry Tomfarsakin on June 07, 2008
What a load of bull. KEIOC have been and still are the biggest liars of the whole relocation debate, we've still yet to see the HOK report but it exists 'honest guv'. The 4,000 not renewing? Erm I think we'd better wait until a bit nearer the start of the season before saying 4,000 had not renewed, there's a financial crisis out there at the moment and I suspect season ticket renewels at all clubs are running a bit behind. The less said about the Ruskie Investor lie by one of KEIOCs leaders on local radio the better!
by Rob Newland on June 08, 2008
Maybe instead of just "you work for KEIOC!" and "this is biased" it would be far more constructive to actually provide a counter-argument. It's hilarious how many people have questioned the facts while providing none of their own. If you disagree with this article then please explain ... Why we were told it would be "effectively free" when it will cost £78m-plus? If this is such a great deal why did they need to lie about so many of the details? Also explain how you think EFC will handle the inevitable overrun costs (almost every stadium build in history goes way over-budget). We could end up £150 in debt -- how do we compete in the transfer market with debt like that? Why were we told the stadium would be the “best served transportation wise ...” when it will be incredibly poorly served. Please explain how attendance will increase when anyone wishing to attend the game has the travel time (by car or train) to the general area and then miles of walking or hours waiting for buses. Do you know how many buses will be required for 40,000 people? Do you know how long it will take to get to and from a game under those conditions? How do you expect attendance to increase? There are numerous other concerns with Kirkby but I'd like to hear actual debates from people instead of just whining about bias. Prove him wrong!

Steve Taylor...... Simon Currie.... Where are your facts? Are you simply choosing to ignore the obfuscations (let's stop short of plain outright LIES until the evidence for that statement comes to light) designed to mislead the fan base that have come from our club re the relocation. All I can see from KEIOC is an honest attempt to campaign against a potentially disastrous move for the club. This article, anti-Kirkby as it is, is a fan's opinion. Many will agree, maybe many will not. But if you do not agree than try explaining why... so come on.. what are the benefits of the move.. where are your facts? I am 100% against this move. I have been attending Goodison since 1968 and have been to countless away games over the years. So am I not a fan anymore because I oppose the board on the move? - The Tesco not even going to provide any extra revenue as far as I can see. - It's a cheap build out of town stadium when the city is re-generating. - It is going to be a nightmare to get to and from. - It will add a huge amount to the club's debt. Dave Roberts: *"Goodison is a shithole"*. ..so why not rebuild it instead of a new *shithole* (And that's what the Kirkby stadium will be as far as I can see)? .. again it has been shown that Goodison can be re-built in stages and that the footprint can be increased. It's just that the club have no will to pursue this option.. WHY? If it's such a good deal then tell us why - be positive - you are the YES contingent.
by Simon Currie on June 08, 2008
Where are Mr Platts facts? He hasnt got any, he is going on hearsay and wild assumption. Where are keioc facts? Wild slander is the order of the day for this group or telling the people of kirkby that everton fans are hooligans by showing them the battle of the valley which led to 1 of the group leaving. We are still waiting for the fabled HOK report, which was due about 6-7mths ago. I am quite happy to debate with facts but i want facts 1st. If this move doesnt happen, we are dead in the water, mark my words
Simon - I genuinely would like some answers to my questions. They are honest questions. Change my mind.
by keith menzies on June 09, 2008
There are plenty of facts that have been unearthed by the anti-Kirkby campaign some of which appear in the original article's bullet points. - the promise of an effectively free stadium, in fact, ending up costing in excess of £75 million. - This effectively free stadium being a world class design but, in fact, it being only a medium quality design (and that's being kind from the images I've seen) - Best served stadium for transport being, in fact, a transport planning nightmare. - Additional revenue from concerts, etc. being, in fact, not possible. The assumption of Goodison not being able to be redeveloped being, in fact, disproved. - If you wanted the facts first, and so you should, how the hell could you vote to move (or support a move, if you weren't in a position to vote) without knowing any? What of the information provided by the club that found its way into the public domain at the time of the vote has been proved to be a fact? ............ Of the alternative proposals put forward by people who genuinely care enough for EFC's future to have put their own, time and effort into finding what could be possible there is not one suggestion as unappealing as Kirkby. Fact. Relocating EFC to Kirkby is a great move.. for Tesco. It's not quite such a good idea for Everton though.

1) Free Stadium - How much actual cash are we spending? I think you will find its very little after sale of Gp, naming rights and such. 2) WC Stadium - Open to debate this one and its pointless arguing it. I think the design is great, others dont. Down to a matter of taste, i think liverpool's new ground looks hiedous, you may like it! 3) Transport - County Rd is a nightmare but i dont hear you complaining about that, Fact is the new ground will be serviced within a mile by a motorway and a 6 lane 'A' road. What exactly do you want? 4) Concerts - Why cant we? Please explain. 5) Redevelopment of GP - No-one has ever said it cant be, a fact the no voters always seem to overlook. What has ALWAYS been said is its not commercially viable to do it, ie we cant afford it and we would lose too much revenue on the phased stages if we could. 6) Alternative? What alternatives Keith, unless your talking about the ludricous small roundabout down the road from GP which was nothing more than a publicity exercise for Bestway. FACT staying at GP will cripple Everton and kirkby represents the ONLY realistic option to us
by keith menzies on June 11, 2008
Transport: So, you'll drive up your 6 lane A road and park where? Goodison has a relatively quick dispersal rate after kick off, transport in all directions and easy to get to the city centre. I've walked it loads of times.. where would I get to walking that far from Kirkby? Do you really think people will be happy queueing both ends for park & ride? Have you read the transport study? Remember it is facts you are supposed to be interested in. .. Best served stadium for transport it was supposed to be. A falsehood. ---- WC design: It looks second rate to me... but we were promised a world class design which is why I mentioned it.. another falsehood.. I'm seeing a pattern here.. It clearly isn't going to be anything to be proud of. --- Concerts: We can't because it is a condition attached to use in the planning application that non-sporting events will not be held there - more information you are choosing to ignore or haven't bothered reading?. --Staying at GP will cripple us... how exactly? I fail to see where we will get additional revenue by moving to Kirkby, can't see a significant increase in attendance or corporate income. Who's going to want to treat their clients to a trip to Tesco's? Where will they go for the evening after that.. into the City Centre, to visit other central attractions? How will they get there?. We own Goodison.. Someone said said it could not be redeveloped because the footprint couldn't be changed.. someone at the club I think.. that was also proved false.. It could be significanty developed in phased stages without a huge drop in revenue, other clubs have done it, e.g. Newcastle, Villa. Last, The Loop Site.. scores points for location. I thought worth investigating as an alternative and a more worthy choice than Kirkby by a mile. Walton Hall Park could also have been considered but there has to be a will from the club to look at options and they have jumped into bed with Tesco and refuse to even consider other propositions. That is simply short sighted and the boards terminal myopia will haunt us for years if we go through with this move. Open your eyes, Simon.. This is not the best deal for Everton.. not by along way. If you believe it is, tell us why? What is good about it?
by Simon Currie on June 11, 2008
1) Transport - Sorry keith didnt realise it would affect you getting a pint in the city ctre! You may have to walk a bit further or get a taxi (either a knowsley one or walk half a mile into LCC territory and get 1 of the 3000 available taxis) The council are setting aside over 1m to set up a controlled parking scheme, in addition network rail are spending 50k on updating kirkby rail station as well as the distinct possibility of the tram scheme getting the green light. So according to you GP is great to get away from and yet it is served by smaller roads than kirkby. Go figure! 2) WC design - Told you in the last post that there is no point discussing it, aesthetics are purely down to personal opinion. I love the design and think its WC, you dont. End of point on that one. 3) Concerts - It may be a condition now, (although i havent seen anything of the kind) but they will work a way round it once its built 4) GP Crippling us - You fail to see how we will make more money out of an extra 10-15k fans? Its one of the easiest answers that one keith. As for your point on the exec boxes, people dont want to take there clients to an old run down stadium, a brand new state of the art stadium with improved facilities is a different matter (As for where they go after, i couldnt care less), but they will come. 5) Redeveloping GP - i think i answered this point last time, it doesnt matter how much we can extend the footprint, we cant afford it with no enabler and reduced capacity over a number of yrs would severely cripple the club.
