With Gordon Strachan practicing his punditry on the BBC during Euro 2008 it will be unlikely that Celtic will sign anyone for a further two weeks.

Celtic have been linked with half of the Croatian squad currently taking part in the tournament and there is a distinct possibility that one of the rumours may come to fruition.

Monaco midfielder Jerko Leko seems to be the one Croat who would fit in perfectly with the Celtic midfield. A superb ball-winner and composed and skillful, he would certainly add something to the current squad that Massimo Donati and Evander Sno cannot. Although i do think that Donati should be given another season to prove what a talented player he can be.

'This is where Celtic have to be shrewd and clever. There will be no mega signings that will have the fans drooling just yet'

It's painful to admit, but Celtic just have to shop in a different ares to many of the teams they could line up against in the Champions League next season. Although on a sound financial footing, it is impossible for Celtic to match anything like the kind of money that is talked about and spent in the English Premier League and even the Championship.

Noel Hunt from Dundee is the latest name to be linked in this ridiculous time of rumour and speculation. The fact that he is a Celtic fan has nothing to do with this tabloid story of course. Injured Swiss captain Alexander Frei has been linked with Celtic for almost four years now and although Strachan admitted an interest, the wages for the Borrusia Dortmund hitman could be a stumbling block. Good player that he is.

AC Milan defender Dario Simic is the player who interests me most. Another Croatian who has been playing at the top tier of football for a long time. At 32, his experience would be invaluable not just to Celtic but to Stephen McManus and the other young defenders at the club. It would be a smart and shrewd signing and Simic has intimated that the green side of Glasgow would excite him.
