Emmanuel Adebayor is linked to a move to Milan, while Barcelona are also interested in him and Aleksandr Hleb, and Roma and Milan are tracking Nicklas Bendtner. Mathieu Flamini has gone, who else is leaving Arsenal?

Manchester City are looking to bring Ronaldinho to the club after the successful signing of his fellow Brazilian Jo. Newcastle have signed Argentina winger Jonas Gutierrez and are looking for more. Chelsea have signed Jose Bosingwa and Deco, and are looking to bring Robinho to the Bridge to replace the ageing and departing Claude Makelele and Frank Lampard respectively.

Liverpool are planning a massive £40million bid for David Villa, fighting tooth and nail to sign Gareth Barry and have secured the signing of Philipp Degen. Manchester United are still trying to prise Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham while the Spurs have done their work in the transfer market to capture Luka Modric, Giovanni Dos Santos and PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes.

So, with all the buying going around, what will Arsene Wenger’s next step be? He has promoted six youngsters into the first team, but the likelihood of using them regularly seems remote. In addition, the bigger question is why are Arsenal selling or forced to sell our stars when everyone else in the Premier League is buying?

True, we have brought in Aaron Ramsey and Samir Nasir, but the thought of losing some of our bigger names is frustrating. Is there a problem with the club, the coach, or the pay structure - or the other players? It really seems funny, don’t you think?

To add to this fire, Wenger recently declared that Arsenal are a selling club. He said the Gunners will probably have to sell their star players every year for nearly another two decades in order to survive in this harsh world. While other clubs continue to be bankrolled by foreign capital, Arsenal remain one of the few top clubs in the Premier League that refuse to be so. While having to free up - for 17 more years - an annual surplus of £24million to pay for the new Emirates Stadium, Wenger has no choice but to sell.

So, what will Arsene do now to keep Arsenal in the running for trophies? Buy - or sell to keep us afloat? More importantly, what does the bigger picture tell? Will only the clubs with foreign investors or somewhat dubious financial status dominate the new soccer scene? Only time will tell if Wenger knew something that the rest did not. Arsene knows…
