It seemed the job that no one wanted but at last, Heart of Midlothian have a new head coach. Romanian-born Csaba Laszlo, 44, has taken over the hot-seat with the new SPL season fast approaching.

The multi-lingual former Ferencvaros boss has left his role as Ugandan national coach to sign a three-year deal at Tynecastle. As a former youth coach with Borussia Monchengladbach, Lazlo has already highlighted the importance of Hearts’ Riccarton Academy complex as a source of potential recruits for the first-team squad.

He'll see his new team in action on Monday evening when they travel to Belfast to face Glentoran in a testimonial match. They then face Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park next Wednesday before heading for a training camp in Germany.

Three Ugandan national players have been rumoured as potential new recruits. With time at a premium before the season opener against Motherwell on August 9, club owner Vladimir Romanov will need to act fast to boost a squad lacking in a number of areas  - notably full-back and up front.
