Paul Ince maybe struggling to keep hold of his Blackburn Rovers superstars, but it's great news to see him looking to bolster his team, even before any kind of exodus happens.

The club have rejected offers for David Bentley and Stephen Warnock so far in the past couple of weeks and the future of the likes of Roque Santa Cruz at the club is also uncertain. Although the Paraguayan hitman has said he is happy to stay at Ewood, a big-money offer could tempt the Ewood Park outfit. What is more upsetting is the news that Brad Friedel wants to leave the club.

For me, he has been the rock in the Blackburn squad over the past few seasons and has saved the team in many matches. He has been one of the best, if not THE best goalie in the Premier League in recent times and will be very tough to replace. I hope he does stay but with the likes of Mark Hughes tempting his former player with extra money etc, Freidel looks set to leave this summer.

But the good news is that Ince has started to bring in a few new players and, more importantly, they look like the type of players the club needs - bringing flair and pace to the squad and a 'fearless' factor.

Firstly Carlos Villanueva is joining Blackburn for around £6million from Chilean giants Audax Italiano. At only 22 he is an exciting acquisition and already has 12 international caps for his country, while also being named Chile's footballer of the season.

He has played over 125 matches for Audax and scored 50 goals. The good thing about Villanueva is that he is attacking in his approach to the game and should link up well with Santa Cruz - if the Paraguayan stays at Ewood. Carlos also has experience in the Copa Liberatadores, South America's equivalent of the Champions League, and has also played for Chile in the Copa America - the equivalent of the European Championships. This emphasises that, for a 22-year-old, he has a wealth of experience.

He will be an unknown in the Premier League, but this is what will ultimately make the Chilean exciting to watch!

Continuing his South American spending spree, Ince has decided to trial an Ecuadorian during Blackburn's trip to Germany to play a friendly match. Segunda Castillo, 26, currently plays for Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade but is likely to move to Ewood Park in the next couple of weeks. He has played over 30 times for Ecuador and has a wealth of experience at club level, playing over 200 competitive matches for various sides and scoring a number of important goals for Red Star over the past two seasons.

Again, Castillo will be an unknown quantity in England but I am hopeful that these players will not only be bargain buys for Ince but also push Blackburn back into contention for European places. Santa Cruz, Castillo and Villanueva all ooze South American quality, and while none of them orginate from football giants Argentina or Brazil, they are still world class and their attacking play will reap rewards for Blackburn.

Forget Bentley and let us as fans concentrate on players who actually want to play for the club, instead of those wishing to leave.
