With the new Premier League season a matter of days away, it’s that time of year again when every supporter is filled with optimism and excitement. It's also at this time that all the wild predictions are made about who will achieve what. This is my unbiased opinion on the winners and losers for the upcoming season...
Premier League: The top seven
1. Chelsea - The Blues will be hurting after coming so close last year. With the strength of the current squad and Luiz Felipe Scolari at the helm, I predict a title-winning season.
2. Man United - The world's best team last year, however I predict a slow start caused by injuries and I can't see Chelsea slipping up.
3. Arsenal - A non-mover I feel, although I do not think they will get as close to the top two this year. Underestimate them at your peril, but surely the loss of Mathieu Flamini and Alex Hleb will have consequences.
4. Tottenham - Fans have a lot to be optimistic about this year. It's the best Spurs squad I can remember, and if the team is able to gel I feel they could shock a few people by finishing in the Champions League places.
5. Liverpool - I feel on paper Liverpool have the capabilities to win the Premier League, however this will never happen as long as Rafa Benitez is in charge!
6. Everton - Always seem to defy the odds. Although lack of signings will hinder any progress, I feel that a consistent top-six finish is widely expected this year.
7. Aston Villa - One down on last year I'm afraid. Again, it's the lack of signings that will prevent a forward march - and losing Gareth Barry will not help their cause.
The bottom three
18th West Brom, 19th Stoke City, 20th Hull City - Although quite lazy to predict the three who came up to go straight back down, I feel none of these sides has anywhere near the quality of the poorest teams above them!
FA Cup: Liverpool - I feel it would be a catastrophe if Liverpool finished the season potless and, personally I can’t see that happening.
Carling Cup: Chelsea -Always hold this competition with high regard, and will be hard to stop last season's runners-up.
Champions League: Manchester United - I can see United retaining their trophy this year, with key players fully fit by the time the competition kicks off.
UEFA Cup: Spurs - This is by far the most unpredictable of competitions, but who would bet against Spurs with Juande Ramos’s track record?
Obviously no one knows what the new season holds and everyone has their own opinions on how things will pan out. Maybe all of my predictions will be incorrect, but I feel that the huge amount of different opinions is what makes football such a fascinating subject. So come on, what are your predictions for the coming season?

legend spurs coming 4th . YID ARMY !
Spurs to win premiership and Arsenal, Man U and Chelski to be relegated to conference upon allegations of Drug trafficing when sniffer dogs find cocanie filled footballs carried abroad during their champions league away games, Spurs will then be awarded champions league as a result of being super cool, and Arsene Wenger is sentenced to a year in the town stocks and has fruit and eggs pelted at him, Accurate Prediction, you'll see, you'll all see!!!!!

Why does everyone doubt Rafa, last three seasons we have closed on the champion team by 10 points and being oly 11 points off Man U this season, then form would say we'll loose it by 1 point on the final day, though I don't think this will happen, and I'm not even sure we'll win it unlike a lot of fans, we'll certainly be contenders and closer too the top than ever before!

everyone doubts rafa coz he aint good enough accurate prediction spurs for 4th,uefa,and carling, and semi of fa cup u wait and c. 6-2 spurs against middelsbrough
Liverpool will break into the top 2 this year in my opinion, despite how hard it is to compete with the money Utd n Chavski have to spend (don't agree with your anti-Rafa comments tho, name a man who could do a better job?), but I suppose we could just as easily mess up and let Spurs catch up. All we need is a little bit of luck, but if we're still in with a shout with 10 games to go and in all competitions ill be a reasonably happy man.

this is a jkoe right? evry one is sayin spurs wil break into the top 4 at the expense of liverpool! yet spurs sold their most consistent player from last season to the team they expect to knock out of the top four? sounds rather stupid to me. if anyone drops out of the top 4 it will be arsenal, sure they play the best football in the league but they sold flamini and hleb who wer to of their key players. i can honestly see liverpool breakin into the top 2 this season an we hav a big enough squad to challenge for all 4 trophies this year. i just dnt believe spurs think their gona finish ahead of liverpool!! they bought modric an dos santos an they think theyr amazin
btw darren dawson is clearly a chelsea supporter whos still jealous of the `ghost` goal scored by luis garcia in the champions league
by Rich on August 08, 2008
This is flawed for so many reasons, firstly Benitez is a great manager, much more accomplished at club level than Scolari who you expect to win 2 trophies in his first season, and Benitez is'nt good enough to challenge for the league but he wins the FA cup as a concellation?Secondly Spurs need another CB and another CM before anyone can start touting them for a CL place, would love to see it happen but we have to be realistic and not overhype our chances, the squad is almost brand new and not gelled yet,we will improve on last season no doubt, and be very competitive in all 3 cups, but top four?Thirdly do you realise there are more teams in European Cups than just the ones who play in the Premiership?

I think we are more likely to edge out Arsenal for fourth rather than Liverpool. Debate it here chaps - http://s1.zetaboards.com/Spurs_Vs - all fans welcome!
Well thats that then, we know the top 7. Roll on season 09/10.

depending on one or two more signings i think the table will look like this come the end.1.chelsea,2.man u,3.liverpool,4.spurs.
by Spurs Gog on August 09, 2008
Thanks for the mention but Spurs will finish 5th for the third time in four seasons. Forget the new squad. The management team still need time to bed in. Nevertheless we will win a cup. My favoured choice is the UEFA Cup but I will be happy with winning the FA Cup for the 9th time. Next season (2009 - 2010) I would expect to qualify for the ECL.

I think predictions are a dangerous game, especially when football is such a hair-line game. They always say that things even themself out over a season, but thats not really true. Nor is it that the best team always wins. Reality is its the team who gets the rub of green, refs going their way, the bounce of ball etc,all of which went Man Utds way last term, and certainly not Chelseas. Chelsea are a more solid outfit, and offer opposition less chances per game, so if they remain relativly injury free, and bearing in minf they have no players going off this Jan then I think its there for the taking, more so if they can get the jump on the reds early in the season, good starts breed confidence. Liverpool have bought a pup from us, and Keane will not make one iota of difference to them, all they've done is blown a budget that could have better spent, but the return of Agger if he's still as good will make them a little less fragile. Arsenal(Who really gives a flying forklift about that shower), Villa and Spurs will God willing put pressure on the establishment, with Everton & Blackburn declining as Bolton did last year!, Relegated will be Hull,Stoke and Bolton
by THE GREATEST on August 10, 2008
To essexian- Chelsea the most solid outfit? United conceded the least goals of anyone in the league last year. Don't make stupid biased comments. This is my prediction for the top 7- 1) Utd 2) Chelsea 3) Arsenal 4) Liverfools 5) Spurs 6) Everton 7) Villa
by Gabriel on August 10, 2008
Right on, THE GREATEST... how people think chelsea are gonna topple United this season is beyond me, yes they have a solid squad, but so do ManUtd. We conceded the least amount of goals last season and chelski haven't done anything to improve their defence, if anything, they have weakened it with the acquisition of defensively inept bosingwa. We are gonna get a striker soon, and when we do, our squad would be complete and hopefully, we'll be looking to acheive the 'Septuple' this year...
by Essexian76 Essexian76 on August 10, 2008
To the Glory Hunter, I said that Chelsea offer the opposition less chances, I didnt say they conceded less goals, I know reading is a little challenging for some of you knucklescrapers, but at least try and get the point of these forums, before you ask a City fan to dictate your reply. Or better still support your local team, Cheltenham, or Southend perhaps?
by Tony Mac on August 10, 2008
Chelsea will finish 3rd, Money Utd and Arsenal will compete for 1st place, Arsenal will win FA cup against Man U, Chelski will win Carling Cup, Man U will be out of Champions league by 1/4 final, the Shit White lane boys will end up in Uefa Final - will only win if they manage to keep their top players come transfer window. As usual Liverpool will be in semi- final Champs league and finsih 4th, Spurs will finish 7th, Aston villa/Everton fighting 4 5th place. You've heard it hear first.
