Formula 1: Much better the Lewis Hamilton show than the boring Michael Schumacher show!
Britain's new Formula One hero may not be as interesting as David Beckham, but the attention on Lewis is growing. He is an exciting prospect and he has so much more charisma than Schumi.

Lewis Hamilton boring? You have got to be kidding! OK, so the British media reckons the McLaren driver doesn't want to take the Beckham route into modeliing men's designer underwear, but just because he doesn't want to display his packet in public doesn't mean he is boring as Michael Schumacher was during his racing career.
The fact that nobody would have wanted to see Schumacher in the buff is a completely different story.
When watching Schumacher driving I got bored with Formula One. A lot of the races where dull and the German did nothing to enhance the sport. Of course he was a brilliant driver and probably will be the most successful for years to come but in terms of entertainment value Schumacher lacked the spice of an Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, which I loved to watch this rivalry as I grew up.
Now Formula One has a new star, and the great thing is that he is British. Hamilton has been a breath of fresh air for motor sport and especially Formula One. Ever since he burst on to the scene as a novice last year, he has kept his fans in suspense and things have not changed this season.
He is not afraid to give his views on his rivals and his performances and driving skills at such a young age and with his lack of experience in F1 are phenomenal to say the least. His rivalry with Kimi Raikonen and Fernando Alonso last season made great TV viewing and I am sure brought a lot of new and old fans back to F1.
This year is no different and the title battle is already in full flow. It seems every position that Hamilton can gain on his rivals is already vitally important, and we have only seen five races. The next few months will be fascinating to see if anyone driver can take control.
Obviously I want Hamilton to dominate and I enjoy his racing style so much. Even on Sunday in Istanbul he tried something different in his three-stop strategy and it is this innovative approach that makes Hamilton far from boring. He is still learning the sport and this learning curve is great to watch.
Although Hamilton has made headlines quickly in F1, he has dealt with the press admirably and knows when to escape the glitz and glamour the sport can bring.
Schumacher was never this interesting! Everyone knew he was just a driver and had no personality - maybe it was just that he was German!
Hamilton will never be as boring as this and I for one am happy for this new star of Formula One to take his place every two weeks on the starting grid. You just never know what to expect and this is why I like watching the sport again so much. Keep it up, Lewis, and win the drivers' championship this season!

I totally agree with you - Lewis has bought millions of people all over the world to F1 and he is exciting to watch. He is the "man" of F1 and I shall be cheering him every step of the way this year and for years to come.

You really are a bad writer

The reason Hamilton went on an 'innovative' 3-stop strategy was because unlike his team-mate he could not make the tyres last. McLaren have stated that Kovalainen could have won the race were it not for his puncture. Therefore Hamilton had a car capable of victory but failed to do so. Not a disaster but something the die-hard Hamilton fans need to accept. Fuel corrected he has also been out-paced by his team-mate in qualifying. Again i'm not saying LH isn't a great driver - just a tad overrated by some observers...

You should get your brain checked the next time you write about formula 1. Your boy hasn't even won a championship yet, how can anyone in the right frame of mind compare a sporting legend to Hamilton.

Dear Sportingo, Chris Goldsmith is the worst writer I have ever seen, exhibit A: - >>A lot of the races where dull<< exhibit B: >>Schumacher lacked the spice of an Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, which I loved to watch this rivalry as I grew up.<<

Do not ever compare Lewis the brat to Michael Schumacher the legend, How can you say that MS was boring, you are such a bigot, maybe you like dark skinned little boys.No one has Michaels vibrant personality, his motivation to the sport, and his exuberance, I hate to watch F1 now because it is so boring, just little kids trying to prove themselves, one outpacing the other. Put lewis and Michael together and you will see the difference, and who is really boring. Michael emanates carisma, persona, and fun, also class and of course experience. So why dont you take lewis home with you, just like Ron did, maybe your marriage could end too.

You seem to be trying hard to convince yourself and the readers. Reckon you should repeat this 1000 times every night for the next 3 year before you go to bed - "Lewis is much more charismatic than Schumi" only then you might get convinced. May be after that you can try harder to convince others. On a serious note, I do not mean Lewis is not a good driver, this is his second year yet and we need to see him mature and learn a lot. Maybe 2 years down the line we can do this comparison.

He definetly makes races interesting, especially when he fails to see the red light, nor a red car at that. Or was it intentional. Once crashing might as well crash into a direct rival!!??.
