Lewis Hamilton boring? You have got to be kidding! OK, so the British media reckons the McLaren driver doesn't want to take the Beckham route into modeliing men's designer underwear, but just because he doesn't want to display his packet in public doesn't mean he is boring as Michael Schumacher was during his racing career.

The fact that nobody would have wanted to see Schumacher in the buff is a completely different story.

When watching Schumacher driving I got bored with Formula One. A lot of the races where dull and the German did nothing to enhance the sport. Of course he was a brilliant driver and probably will be the most successful for years to come but in terms of entertainment value Schumacher lacked the spice of an Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, which I loved to watch this rivalry as I grew up.

'Everyone knew Schumacher was just a driver and had no personality - maybe it was just that he was German!'

Now Formula One has a new star, and the great thing is that he is British. Hamilton has been a breath of fresh air for motor sport and especially Formula One. Ever since he burst on to the scene as a novice last year, he has kept his fans in suspense and things have not changed this season.

He is not afraid to give his views on his rivals and his performances and driving skills at such a young age and with his lack of experience in F1 are phenomenal to say the least. His rivalry with Kimi Raikonen and Fernando Alonso last season made great TV viewing and I am sure brought a lot of new and old fans back to F1.

This year is no different and the title battle is already in full flow. It seems every position that Hamilton can gain on his rivals is already vitally important, and we have only seen five races. The next few months will be fascinating to see if anyone driver can take control.

Obviously I want Hamilton to dominate and I enjoy his racing style so much. Even on Sunday in Istanbul he tried something different in his three-stop strategy and it is this innovative approach that makes Hamilton far from boring. He is still learning the sport and this learning curve is great to watch.

Although Hamilton has made headlines quickly in F1, he has dealt with the press admirably and knows when to escape the glitz and glamour the sport can bring.

Schumacher was never this interesting! Everyone knew he was just a driver and had no personality - maybe it was just that he was German!

Hamilton will never be as boring as this and I for one am happy for this new star of Formula One to take his place every two weeks on the starting grid. You just never know what to expect and this is why I like watching the sport again so much. Keep it up, Lewis, and win the drivers' championship this season!
