What a brilliant season Robert Kubica is having in Formula One. The 23-year-old Polish driver has in superb form during the first six races of the new season and has firmly helped BMW-Sauber to become the third best Formula One team at the moment and competing well against the Maclarens and Ferraris. Both Kubica and Nick Heidfeld have shown a great maturity this season and made numerous podium finishes.

In Australia, Kubica retired from the race giving teammate Heidfeld all the limelight when the German managed a brilliant second place behind Lewis Hamilton. However since then Robert has gone from strength to strength in each race and has finished in the top four in each of the last five races.

In Malaysia, Kubica finshed a fantastic second and in the next race in Bahrain he managed to claim his first ever pole position in the BMW, showing not only that he is a great tactician of but he can also find great speed in his car, enabling him to be superior to his closest rivals.

'With a whole host of talent around him, Kubica will not find it easy to continually compete at such a level'

While others make mistakes Kubica is Mr Consistent and has amazed many in Formula One this season with his results. He has only been racing in Formula One for three seasons and is contunally moving up in the rankings.

His BMW finished sixth overall in 2007 and this year he is set not only for more podium finishes but also a crack at the Drivers Championship. He is lying in fourth position at present, only six points behind leader Hamilton. He could overturn that deficit in one race!

With a whole host of talent around him, Kubica will not find it easy to continually compete at such a level, but no one can argue with his results and until he starts to show signs of pressure then the young man should keep sweeping up the points and stay out of the media frenzy surrounding Hamilton and Raikkonen.

The main problem i see in Kubica's title challenge is the reliabilty of his car. The BMW Sauber has been in brilliant shape this season so far and the team is  third in the Constructors Championship after six races, only one point behind the Maclaren.

We all know that Robert Kubica is a talented driver but the car is so improtant to success and I for one hope that the BMW continues to be competitve against it rivals and the team can develop for the remainder of the season, enabling Kubica to maintain his title challenge.

There is no real pressure on the Pole yet, but with each subsequent race Kubica will be in danger of attracting media attention. That will be the crucial time when we will see if he can cope with the cameras and race as well with a title on the line.

2008 is a very competitve Formula One season and there are a host of men racing for the Championship, and Kubica is definaltey one of them. And while Hamilton, Raikkonen and Massa make all the headlines, Kubica is showing the fans just what he can do on the track.

The season is too tight to call yet, so let's hope that there is as much intrigue, incident-filled and brilliant driving for the rest of 2008 as that provided by Kubica and Hamilton at Monaco on Sunday.
