OK, I take it all back. The Olympics is still Mickey Mouse-ish, but now the track and field has started and Great Britain is actually picking up medals, we can now at the very least, smile and enjoy the proceedings.

The UK back pages and several more inside on Sunday morning were full of Olympics coverage, no room for football on the opening weekend of the season, and quite rightly so. The news reports of over-enthusiastic Chinese police arresting anyone who says or does anything detrimental against the biggest nation in the world have even abated.

By early Monday morning, Team GB had amassed the grand total of 26 medals - great going for a nation that IS usually real Mickey Mouse over recent years at most sports - and a lot of other things, too!

Anyway, congratulations to Becky Adlington, Bradley Wiggins, Chris Hoy and all the rest. A big hurrah for Michael Phelps, too, because whatever you think of him and swimming in general, his massive achievement with that record medal haul deserves every bit of respect.

Let's hope it all continues to look rosy in the garden and Britain's in particular. Enjoy... and try to avoid chanting 'Free Tibet' a lot. It could get you arrested!
