The big question in the Rugby League World Cup is whether any team is capable of beating Australia. And the answer seems to be no. In my earlier article on Sportingo, I suggested that the World Cup would be a joke, but after reaching the half-way stage I'm on the fence for two reasons.

The first is i think that games have been entertaining, like the Samoa v Tonga game, England v Papua New Guinea and Tonga v Irealand. The other point is that the World Cup crowds have been poor. I mean, the grounds look completly empty except when Australia are playing.

The surprise of the tournament for me was the way Fiji outplayed France 42-6. But let's go back to the crowds issue. The minor games need to be advertised more, like the Rugby Union World Cup which was a near sell-out for every game, and the French made millions of dollars for simply staging the tournament.

I think New Zealand are the only team with a chance of beating Australia because they didn't lose by 50 points last time they played Australia. They beat PNG 48-6, but I think that Australia will still win because of the class of players like Darryen Lockyer, Brent Tait, Steven Price and Scott Prince.

But I could be proved wrong. If there was a team out there capable of playing like the Aussies it would interesting. But that won't happen. The big game this weekend is New Zealand v England and it should be a cracker with players like Benji Marshall, Nathan Fien and Kevin Sinfield in opposition.

Tonight's games are Scotland v Fiji and Ireland v Samoa. I have been impressed with the Irish because their ball control has been good, but they have been made to pay for their mistakes. What are your thoughts on the Rugby League World Cup so far?
