Supporters of the All Blacks and the Springboks have their own justified arguments on who is the best, but the facts speak for themselves.

Popular world opinion states that the Boks are the most hated team in world rugby – why? I believe it's because of South Africa's tainted past and the scars of apartheid. It will take South Africa a further 10 years to shrug off its bad image.

If you listen to commentators and journalists from around the world they would have you believe that any success on South Africa's part is down to the opposition not playing to their full potential. Any predictions you see from international journalists are generally conservative when the Boks are concerned. I believe it's because of the negative image South African rugby has and not down to the actual playing potential. This point is proven by the very low percentage of correct predictions by international journalists where the Springboks are concerned.

On the other hand, when it comes to the All Blacks, it's a different story completely. Everybody in the world loves the heritage of New Zealand rugby and journalists write off any team set to face them in a Test match. This reputation has made the All Blacks seem invincible. I am about to prove that theory wrong

Here are the facts which I believe make South Africa stronger than new Zealand right now:

• There are two IRB world players of the year in this Springbok team, Schalk Burger and Bryan Habana, both of whom are the best in their respective positions.

• This Springbok team also boasts the best lock pairing in world rugby in Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha, and the best scrum-half in world rugby, Fourie Du Preez.

• They have arguably the quickest and strongest loose trio in world rugby with Burger, Juan Smith and Ryan Kankowski, with the latter being another IRB world player candidate this year.

• South Africa also have the quickest back three in world rugby, with Habana, Tonderai Chavhanga and Conrad Jantjes overtaking the All Blacks' history of dominance in that area.

• The world champions have the best lineout in world rugby and are the strongest in depth.

In breaking these facts down, SA currently have five players and three combinations in their starting XV who are the best in the world.
