In the first half Aust looked very composed and in control of their game, retaining possession, preventing turnovers, and basically smothering the game - the AB's didn't seem to respond - except with huge clean outs which at times were awesome, but I admired Aust, the way they tightened up and regained control. Second half the AB's outsmarted Aust, varied the game which appeared to confuse them and broke the Aust pattern. Post game interview, Sterling Mortlock said he wasn't quite sure why the AB's won. Was it because the AB's strength is that they can vary their game so much making it very difficult to defend against? If Mortlock the Captain didn't know why they lost then he certainly couldn't captain Aust to respond to a different AB pattern. Aust outsmarted.
