Australia have a habit of doing well even when, on paper, they probably shouldn't! However, I don't think they'll do too well this year. World Cup games tend to be dominated by big forwards keeping it tight, and this is not what the Aussies are good at. Not sure Australia have such great depth - they've got some very experienced backs, but the quality behind them isn't great. You said that an injury to Larkham or Gregan would be devastating, which I agree with - but then you said any player on the bench could slot in seamlessly, which I don't think is true. The All Blacks' forwards starved them of the ball in the final Tri-Nations games, and Australia did not know what to do about it - we'll see more of that in the World Cup. Can't wait for it to start!

James - your first line hits the nail on the head for me - they are uncanny at it. All things being equal they should not win or even get close- but no doubt being Australia they will! How can they fail at Super 14 level and then come through and play well internationally? Where's the consistency? Maybe it's not needed? If they face the All Blacks at smei final they will loose I feel.

Any team playing Aust need to affect Gregan's game and upset his rhythm. Big forward drives that drag him in are the answer. Too much set play allows Gregan and Aust to play their "chess" rugby. Dismantle them early with big forward drives and fast back line ball. Dont allow any rhythm to their game or they seem to get parity. I saw the AB's smash them at Eden Park in the first 10 mins(couple of seasons back). It was awesome to watch the All Blacks running through them
Have to give Nick Farr- Jones a compliment - it is reported that he dosn't want Robbie Deans coaching OZ either! (Ex All Blacks should never coach Australia)

The Wallabies on paper should struggle, but they have that amazing Australian psyche and ability to keep their cool and do well under pressure. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing Gregan not get his own way! I actually have respect and admiration for the Wallabies who don't necessarily have the best and most flashy players, but are effective to always be a threat.

The Aussie squad is crap what happens if Mortlock gets injured its all over hes the wallabies only attacking weapon just look at both bledisloe games and if Larkham gets hurt i know hes not half the player he use to be but what cover have the got Berrick Barnes a player who was so much better at league just wasting away in union? And there tight 5 is weak there scrums are a joke it doesnt matter how good your backs are if your forwards arent going forward.

Well , here we go again.Everyone writing off The Wallabies.Exactly the same as the last World Cup Semi Final. Reigning champions Australia marched into the Rugby World Cup final with a clinical demolition of tournament favourites New Zealand. Under fire from the media after a string of below-par performances, the Wallabies dominated the Sydney clash from start to finish to set up a meeting with either England or France.. Dont write off The Wallabies no matter waht side takes the field..To all the non-believers and skepticks out there...Lets just see after 80 minutes of Rugby aginst England who dominates. GO THE WALLABIES!
