Donna, agree with you. Its most likely the 4 Southern teams will make up the semis. On current form i don't see Scotland troubling Argentina. However, i do think Eng has a chance against Aus as well. SA has the best side of the draw and i think will be too strong for the Argentinians. That will be an interesting game.

I wouldn't worry too much if I was one of the big three nor would I be complacent but Argentina coming out of a weak group where Ireland were atrocious and they got France asleep on day one would hardly have the Boks, Blacks or Wallabies quaking. Argentina did exceptionally well to top the group but France's arrogance cost them. Results since then have shown it was a blip. Had the games been the other way around and France played Argentinca last, I think we would have seen a different result. They may get past Scotland but other than putting up some resistance in the semi's I doubt they will come too close to troubling their semi final opponents. England has a chance against the Aussies Leslie? Jesus, does your blinkered arrogance and bias know no bounds? They haven't a prayer

shane is right, Argentina's wins must be put in context. I think France-NZ will be the most intriging with NZ possibly being undercooked and france on the bouncing back from the early loss. Still though, i'm happy the argentinians will likely make the quarters, i think its good for world rugby.
Shane, Owen: I don't think anyone is getting carried away with Argentina. Eveyone is just stating that it is likely that they will get through to the Semis. No one is actually saying the Tri-Nations are shaking in their boots. All Donna is suggesting is that the Argies will be competitive and prob should not be underestimated. I concur. Whether you put Argentina's wins in context or not is irrelevant since they are in the quarters are likely to get through Scotland to the semis.
Shane, heh. I don't think Jesus has anything to with my arrogance or bias, and i don't think i'm actually expressing any arrogance or bias since i'm not an English fan. I'm just saying they have a chance - albeit a slim one. Why wouldn't they? Larkham is most likely not to play, Barrick Barnes will be targeted by the Eng as inexperience, Eng will try to drive it forward from lineout and scrums, they still fancy their own forwards regardless of form. If Johnny is on song he will drill it in the corners and go through drop kicks. They will target Tuquiri as being slow and try to get in behind him.
Actually Leslie Donna did say there are four southern hemisphere nations capable of winning the Web Ellis trophy. She is referring to Argentina, that is getting carried away in my book. Fair point regaridng England, just tired of years of arrogance and some God given right to win all before them when they are an average nation at best. Not just rugby by the way. We will agree to disagree here, England aren't gooe enough and the Aussies are out for revenge. They are a very dangerous wounded animal

I think Argentina is a first class team, that undoubtedly should deserve a fair treatment from the IRBa, the press and the people. Maybe they are not the best team, maybe they don't have the best players, but they've got a long and succesful history against top teams, and walked through the 'Pool of Death' with class and authority and they are still not getting the deserved respect for that. And that's their secret, that's their fuel, they aren't playing against their opponents teams, their playing against the ignorance, discrimination, provincialism, narrow-mindedness, disrespect, indifference and partiality that rules this sport, that's why they should be feared, that's why they are shining. Teams like this are really needed to keep this sport alive, they bring fresh air to the old and stupid structure of the current world rugby. Pat

Shane. My bad. Didnt read Donna's 2nd para. accurately enough. Argentina to win? I agree - not likely - it is a confident Arg team but like i said before SA should be too strong and experienced if Arg make it to the semis. Shane - good point about the Aussies - revenge can be a strong motivator -regardless of who they have in their lineup.

I disagee Donna, Agentina are one team to admire the most at this RWC with their method of play to their strenghs - but unfortunatly their strengths dont go far enough to justify them being able to beat the All Blacks - in my opinion

The lack of discip;ine by argentina will cost them a chance at the world cup. If they play against SA, Aus or NZ their mistakes will cost them points and the match. They are an impressive team but they just make too many mistakes.

I think that from the beginning of the RWC, everybody has been underestimating the Pumas. I wouldn't be so sure that the Sprinbocks are up tp no challenge against the argies...!!!!

I get the feeling that as individual players they're not perhaps the same level as the Bokke and the ABs but since they play together so seamlessly and with such passion they're definitely in with a good chance to get to the final. And, let's face it, anything can happen on the day...
