The Springboks-Argentina semi-final was nothing short of delicious. Lots of attacking play, lots of points, cameos everywhere, and more. It was far from the constipated French effort on Saturday night, or indeed the wobbly English performance.
On Sunday, when opportunities were made, one side either scored or gave the ball to Bryan Habana who then scored. It was just so different from the previous evening's fare, and that’s largely down to the Pumas. They are inspiring to watch but soul-destroying to play against.
The way Argentina move the ball from everywhere on the pitch is wonderful. They can win it, keep it, pass it, kick it brilliantly and win it back with great ease and fluency. They have it all. They have been the rugby communities’ skeleton in the cupboard for too long. But now the ’enfant terrible’ is coming out to play. How to find their place in the world order – that is the question. South Africa made the most of marginal opportunities and emphasised their pedigree. The whole box of tricks has not yet been opened, but they were well tested. I think they will win the Cup.
After next weekend there is the thorny question of who will open the door to the Pumas. Tri-Nations inclusion in its current format is a double-edge sword. Travel and player release make this a poisoned chalice. The Six Nations would last 10 weeks with Argentina in the mix, not really workable. An Intercontinental Cup is questionable in its appeal (keep that one tucked away for now).

Like the southern cross! THAT WOULD BE NICE. I think that turning argentina's league to pressionalism...this is the step that must be taken., This way there will be more support to players to remain in the country... a better national league and enough players to set a nice national time to meet this Five Nations, with more chance to the title...(no just go to play... go to win in a couple of years...)
