The gossip, news and rumour mill reckons Rafa Benitez has four major European targets in his sights. And it's nothing to do with the Champions League!

It seems that Rafa Benitez may have to indulge in some retail therapy to solve his stuttering squad’s poor showing in recent months. According to the papers, there are a quartet of players in the pipeline.
Apparently Liverpool are keen on Schalke04's £5million-rated Rafinha (various). The Brazilian full-back was intently watched by scouts as he has helped the German side into a top-four place in the Bundesliga, where they are breathing down on leaders Bayern Munich.
Rafinha said of the recent speculation: "I am very happy that clubs from both England and Spain are watching me."
Liverpool are also eyeing Le Mans goalkeeper Yoann Pele (various). The small French city club are experiencing their best-ever season, and are currently in fifth spot, but whether this success is down to Pele’s goalkeeping remains to be seen. After all, only rock-bottom Metz have conceded more goals than Le Mans. Warning - this could result in a goalkeeper transfer worse even than that of Charles Itandje!

Benitez ought to call some of his old mates at Real Madrid about Diarra's temperament before spending all the dosh he gets for Crouch and Alonso. Diarra IS brilliant, but he's not going to get along with Mascharano and Gerrard. Remember United putting Veron in there with Ginger, Becks and Keane? Leave it for your Football Manager game on PS3, Rafa! Chelski would be wise to put him back next to Essien. Very few people realise just how awesome a force Essien is yet. Diarra would set him free! Better off with Diego Capel. Werder Bremen would be daft not to ask 30-35M for Diego, but I'd pay it.
