£12m Tottenham man to choose between West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle
Nobody wanted Darren Bent in the January transfer window – so why should we believe that clubs are now falling over themselves to buy him?

Darren Bent has in many ways been badly treated by the media. The word flop is used far too often and in the former Charlton man’s case it is grossly unfair.
Yes, the fee paid for his services was probably a little too high, but that’s not really his fault. He has struggled to get a foothold in the Spurs team, but given who is ahead of him in the queue this is not surprising.
Anyway it does seem fairly likely that the England international is on his way out in the summer. Depending on what papers you read many sides are after the striker, the front-runners being West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle (various).
A sticking point might come in the form of a fee. Quite rightly, Daniel Levy and his board want to recoup some of the £16m they paid Charlton. Upton Park seems the most likely destination, and I think Bent could do a good job there. Don’t forget that he has managed five goals in 11 starts (and a wealth of sub appearances).
He hasn’t become a failure overnight – he managed good returns in a struggling side at the Valley and can do so again. He has a bright future, but it’s unlikely to be in north London.

Why do you persist in writing this rubbish... Rehashed crap. He's turned West Ham down once, We don't want him to leave either so what amkes you know better. You lazy journos need to get off your ar**S
At the start of the season they come out of hiding "this is our year" "we are going to break into the top 4"..... season starts.... and you can't find one... 1 cup final later and you find the arrogant spurs fans again...... Where do you hide?
by porkingham cockspurs on February 20, 2008
@johnnie spur You are a joke Most of the players you list have all proved themselves away from bong head lane. Which says a lot about the lack of training and managerial skills at WHL. Give the Academy of Football a Spurs signing and we'll show him how to play. Three of your "rejects" are above you in the PL right now ! Didn't you try to re-sign Sherringham 2 seasons ago ? Your best signing is Levy and when he goes so will you ...

They don't like being lower than us in the league do they? Why can't they accept they're second rate?
by dave dave on February 20, 2008
A stuffed parrot has more brain cells than you bunch of inbreds. All you do is slag eachother's teams off the funny thing is you all support second rate teams get over it
by porkingham cockspurms on February 20, 2008
Let me guess you're a member of the Surrey Mancs or the tooting arse , declare your allegiance so we can be accurate when we slag you off !
I notice you didn't leave any indictation of what team you support? so its either Aston Villa or Newcastle (at a guess) to which I can say atleast Spurs and West Ham fans support their sides through think and thin......
by Tommy Harmer on February 20, 2008
I would have thought after the bashing you got yesterday you would be lying low ....... No one can sign Bent till May, and in between now and then he is our only other striker. If fit, therefore, he is bound to play games and may begin to recover the confidence lost by being bashed by twerps like you. Fortunately Bent will never play football as badly as you think or write.
by matthew simmons on February 20, 2008
west ham gonna sighn flipping bent but he is a load of crap why do you need him for all yous peole who want him are crap people
the meaning of second rate is if your teams are in 10th 11th and 12th place in the league your not 1st rate are you it's not rocket science is it
by Fred Flintstone on February 20, 2008
Thank you for todays lesson, much appreciated.... but I can sill not see any indication of support? can you not spell your team?
