It seems that Darren Bent's future at Tottenham is set to come to an end (The Sun).
Apparently ENIC, the club's power-brokers, are determined to keep Dimitar Berbatov while Bent is surplus to requirements – and he will be joined at the White Hart Lane exit by stroppy defender Pascal Chimbonda (The Sun).
Both players are being chased by West Ham FC and Newcastle FC. Bent has been a long-term target of his former boss at Charlton, Alan Curbishley. The main sticking point for the Hammers is the fee wanted by Spurs, thought to be around £10m.
Now Newcastle also want Chimbonda who looks set to be booted out for a number of reasons, but most notably for his petulant display after being substituted during the Carling Cup final.

I'd take Bent but not Pascal he's got an attitude problem!
by Chris Green on February 26, 2008
Attitude, pwah. West Ham have got Bellamy, Bowyer and Lucas Neill. Thats a petulant trio with more toys to throw than Hamleys!!

i`d definatly cash in on bent we did`nt need him in the first place i would let him go to west ham for 10m but i would keep chimbonda because i think he`s a great fullback and allround team player,as for being stroppy who would`nt be!!nobody would want to be dragged off during a cup final at wembley would they when they`ve played a big part to get us there in the first place however juande ramos by all accounts does`nt take too kindly to this sort of behavour and feel his number could be up good luck pascal.

Chimbonda is total crap - no way would curbs buy that piece of cack. Simple as that.

Perhaps West Ham would be a good home for Darren Bent; he has talent, but for some reason it seems to have gone astray at Tottenham. As for Chimbonda, the attitude he displayed at Wemby was just a reflection of how out of place he is at the club. He lacks the determination and commitment that is needed at Tottenham, which I think might explain his lackluster performances that I have witnessed this season. But what would I know?

why would we want tottenham players yids are below us
by Morgan Lightbody on February 26, 2008
get a grip, you've got no future as a team, you're not in europe and no big stars want to play for you. We may be below you in the league at the moment, but as the saying goes, crap only goes one way.
by Denis Mcallister on February 26, 2008
Could do with Bent as we have nobody else to score for us.
by Dave Anderson on February 26, 2008
Get a grip. Spurs sold Defoe last January so there is no way that they would sell Darren Bent. Surplus to requirements? How so if he is only behind Berbatov and Keane and that Spurs usually play 2 up front?
by G F on February 27, 2008
If it's Cack Curbs will buy it....Quashie, Boa Morte......for starters and he will keep the better players on the bench cos they look tired!! When will this narrow minded tosser quit Upton Park and give us a real chance?
by dave smithy on February 27, 2008
they both wont go to west ham unless they offer them 90 grand a week cause thats the only west ham can sign players who r better than there currant crop and i hear curbs is after eduardo of arsenal another sound signing by the curbs

its a shame, bent is a good player with great potential, just hasn't figured this season because of the form of Robbie and Dimi, has to go though 16 mil just sitting there isn't productive for neither player or club, as for Chimbonda - well what a joke - should never wear the shirt again - COYS!
by yidarmy on February 27, 2008
west ham may well be above us in the league but that means jack when your not going to get anything for it on the other hand spurs have a cup and european football next season and are one place below you in the league its not a bad old season for us really is it can`t be much fun for the hammers living in the shadow of a real club come with us and spurs will show you the way lol.

Unless we buy another striker,we will need Bent for back up,Chimbonda can go as soon we will have our left backs fit again and he is a plonker!
by Paul Jones on February 28, 2008
West Ham offered Bent the chance and he refused so leave him and Chimbonda well alone.

NO F-ING WAY SELL THEM TO BARNSLEY WHERE THEY SHOULD BE
by essexian76 on March 24, 2008
Has only been with us a year, hardly time enough to prove or disprove his ability..its only when there is no doubt that he's not good enough for us that he should go to West Ham...its the way of things; always has always wil be!
by Ladi Tobais on March 24, 2008
D Bent is a average player and a one dimentional striker; players should adapt to a team structure not the way round. This purchase was a bad investment that was never going to increase in value; the earlier they sell him the better.

Every day it's looking like Berbatov leaving Spurs will become a reality. This will be a huge loss for us because he is no doubt one of the best strkiers in the world at the moment. Sure i would love him to stay, but you can't blame him if he decides to go either. He has given plenty to the club, and should be playing Champions League football. Tha'ts why Spurs will not let Bent leave.

chimbonda has something about whe he is focused, he may be petulant but maybe senor ramos just hasnt involved him as integral to the team hence his more petulant side begins to show otherwise he is a good player darren bent on the other hand well he was good for charlton that says about it really

I always laugh at the comments from spurs fans they live in Cuckoo land. Last year wasnt they telling everyone they would break into the top 5. Now there bumping there gums about there players not being good enough for the mighty Spurs but alright for West Ham. Get over yourselves small club living in the past.

Mark Viduka is going to stay at Newcastle next season, with Owen and Martins leaving. Apparently, Keegans looking to Philip Dixon-Smith (Free transfer from Bournemouth) to partner Viduka. Viduka is going to play as target man and Dixon-Smith is going to use his pace in behind the defence. These forwards, if Newcastle generate enough funds from the sales of Owen and Martins, will be supported by Deco, with three in midfield behind.
