Rumours: Arsenal miss out on next David Seaman!
Portsmouth nab 16-year-old QPR starlet – sounds like just the incentive for Arsene Wenger to muscle in and snatch David James from Fratton Park.

In 1990 George Graham approached QPR and offered them a million-plus for their keeper – David Seaman was the name, of course.
He went on to become a Highbury legend whose handful of high-profile errors could never overshadow the astounding saves he managed in a Gunners' shirt.
Nearly two decades on, Arsenal were once again after a young QPR goalie – 16-year-old starlet Liam O’Brien. But this time they have been gazumped by Portsmouth.
Pompey director of youth Paul Hart was understandably chuffed at beating Arsene Wenger and also Aston Villa to the punch, saying: "We watched him an awful lot for QPR and were impressed.

David James for Arsenal? No thanks, he's been fantastic for Portsmouth this season true but still has a bad tendency to rush out of goal too quickly as was seen in England's recent friendlies. I'd actually plump for Jerzy Dudek, he's said that he's so desperate to play again that he'd willingly take a pay cut to join another club, and is still a more than capable keeper who can perform at the top level. Jamo should stay at Pompey and continue to enjoy his Indian summer. And with regard to young keepers we've already got this other young Pole (not Fabianski) and another chap named Mannone, I don't think we should worry too much! But we do need a top-class keeper, I'm not sure that Almunia is up to the job.
