Sportingo.com is offering you the chance to demonstrate your skill as a sports writer in a national award for UK students. If you are an aspiring writer or a budding sports journalist, this competition provides the opportunity to have your work appraised by our team of professional sports editors and read by millions of fans around the world. To enter, just click here to register, download your author’s quick-start guide and get writing! Your feature could be a straight report on any sport from inter-university BUSA competitions to major internationals, a news piece on burning sporting topics such as ever-increasing Premier League salaries, or the Rugby Union club versus country row – tell us about your passions, your memories, or your most controversial opinions. Submitted articles will be published on Sportingo.com and the winning author will have his or her article published in the next issue of Student Times and be provided with a mentorship programme that includes reporting for Sportingo at leading sports events, including tickets and travel costs. In addition to continued advice and guidance on developing as a sports writer, at the end of the mentorship package, you will be presented with a portfolio of your work and a reference, sure to open important industry doors.
IMPORTANT: Please enter the words 'STUDENT TIMES' into the NAME field of your article, and list the name of your University in the ABOUT ME box when you register.
All articles must be entered by Friday April 25. The ten best authors, as chosen by our editor, will be entered into a public vote (so if you think your article is the best, make sure you get your friends to vote!). The winner will be announced on Sportingo and in the next edition of Student Times.

What a great opportunity for young journalists. I am a very keen sports writer and there aren't many opportunities for someone like me to get my material read by large audience. I will certainly be entering and telling my friends about this. Might have to get in some practice by submitting a few articles on Sportingo!

I am a 21-year old BA(Journalism) student in India. I am planning to come to the UK in 2008 for a Master's degree in Journalism and am interested in football journalism. So do I qualify to participate in the competition?
