UEFA Cup holders Sevilla were handed a tricky tie when they were drawn to face Steaua Bucharest in the first knockout round of the competition on Friday.

Steaua finished third in their Champions League group which was headed by Olympique Lyon and Real Madrid, but Sevilla will have the advantage of the second leg at home when the clubs meet in February.

The winners will play either Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine or Nancy of France in the second knockout round.

Tottenham Hotspur, one of only two clubs to win all four matches in their qualifying group, face Feyenoord in a repeat of the 1974 UEFA Cup final which Feyenoord won 4-2 on aggregate after Spurs fans rioted during a 2-0 defeat in the second leg in Rotterdam.

The draw means the clubs would have faced each other in five successive decades of European football. The winners will play either Braga of Portugal or Parma of Italy in the second round.

Werder Bremen, who have also moved down from the Champions League face Ajax Amsterdam, who went out of the Champions League in the qualifying rounds, in another intriguing tie with the winners facing either Spartak Moscow or Celta Vigo.

The first knockout round will be played on February 14-15 and February 22 with the second knockout round matches on March 8 and March 14-15. The final is at Hampden Park in Glasgow on May 16.
