British mixed doubles team Suzanne Rayappan and David Lindley pulled off a shock three-set win over Indonesia's world number one pair Lilyana Natsir and Nova Widianto on Thursday at the Korea Open.

The unheralded pair won a tense first set 21-17 before being outclassed in the second, dropping the frame 11-21.

But Rayappan and Lindley rallied late in the third set to take it 22-20, prompting Lindley to toss his racket and roll on the floor in delight after booking a spot in the quarter-finals.

World number two women's doubles pair Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei of China made short work of Singapore's Jiang Yanmei and Li Yujia, cruising into the last eight with a 21-10 21-11 victory.

The Chinese were dominant at the net and the tandem from Singapore had no answer to their powerful smashes.
