Greetings,

First thing on the list this week: Our new Sportingo Challenge is up! We are looking forward to some more excellent articles.

In the world of tennis, all eyes remain on the Australian Open this weekend. Only a few hours ago, Roger Federer defeated Andy Roddick. We are still waiting to see whether Tommy Haas or Fernando Gonzalez will be his final opponent. Either way, can anyone beat the mighty Federer? Of course, in the women's event, it’s a Serena Williams v. Maria Sharapova final. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these two players? Who deserves to win – and why?

Cricket is providing us with a busy schedule this week. The tri-series in Australia continues, while South Africa take on Pakistan in the third Test and India continue their one-day series against the West Indies.

On the England side, who will replace Coach Duncan Fletcher once he retires or is pushed? Also, what does the future hold for England, given the dismal time they have had in Australia? Essex players have a great track record in one-day cricket, so why are there no players from that county in the current England set-up?

We are closely watching the last six days in the football transfer market. Will Manchester United sign Owen Hargreaves and will Chelsea make a move for a centre-back? So far, these teams have been fairly quiet in the transfer window. As we head into the fourth round of the FA Cup, when will we see some "giant killing"? Can Nottingham Forest beat Chelsea, for instance?

Soon, we will find out who will be taking over Liverpool and if, in fact, Alex McLeish will be the new manager of Scotland. Both of these issues deserve our attention. Also, will Michele Platini become the new president at UEFA?
